DIRECTOR: LIGHTS, CAMERA ACTION!

Assalam o Alaikum and hello friends and fans!!

I'm your host and dost Kounj Muzafar. Today we have another honorable and lovely Author and winner of a Freedom Award KatrinHollister.

Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview. So I will start now...

Tell us a little something special about yourself and your background?

I work full-time as a doctor and I'm mum to several snakes, geckos, frogs, tortoises, and turtles.

What's your age, your date of birth and zodiac sign?

25, 2nd Jan 1992, Capricorn

Which genre did your winner book belong to? What draws you to this genre?

Rune Mage is fantasy. March City: The Land of the Gifted is science fiction. What drew me to the two genres is the lack of limitations. Anything is possible: magic, futuristic technology, spells, fantastical creatures. The world is my oyster, and the potential is exciting and fascinating.

What do people hate the most about you?

I don't regulate my tone well and as a result can sometimes come across as condescending or rude without meaning to (and failing to come across so when intended). Working on it.

What's the most strangest thing you have done?

In my line of work I do a lot of strange things. Fingers into bums. Stitch flesh. Stick needles into stomachs.

Do you ever get writer's Block? Give one tip on how to get through the dreaded writer's block?

Yes, sometimes, despite extensive plotting. I usually work on something else related to the WIP, either create new character sheets or write a different scene (the next chapter, the last chapter, an unrelated chapter etc.)

How do you react to negative comments?

Thank them and move on.

Which person would you like to meet from WP and why? Tag them.

My medical bff LeonBrooke6! We have so much in common: social awkwardness, dark humour, and ridiculous anxiety being some of them.

Who are your favorite authors?

J.K. Rowling, Malorie Blackman, William Nicholson, Jacqueline Wilson, Dan Brown.

What does your family say about your writing?

"Oh, that's nice."

Favourite Quote –

"You can't turn shit into ice cream." -- a fabulous ex-boss.

Places you want to visit –

South Korea; Italy; Greece; Malaysia; UAE.

Are you a good liar? Tell a lie.

Absolutely terrible. You can see all over my face when I'm lying. Now, was that a lie?

What's one thing people love the most about you?

I'm dedicated to my work, whether that's real life work or projects I work on in my spare time. Some people think I'm funny, but I disagree.

What makes you really mad? Name one pet peeve

Grammatical errors. Homophones are not interchangeable. Do not use apostrophe for plurals.

Any insane wish? Name one.

I want to work in MSF (medecins sans frontieres). Not so much insane as far as I'm concerned but my fiance thinks so. He reckons I'll be posted to Syria or somewhere hot and war-torn and just die.

Are you living the life you really want to live?

Yes. Loving life right now.

Relationship status?

Engaged

Best thing about being YOU?

My circumstances currently make me very blessed: great fiance, tons of pet children, having a great career, loving story-writing.

Is being a writer a gift or a curse?

Gift, absolutely. You get to build lives and worlds with your brain!

You only get 3 words to describe yourself – what are they?

Obsessive-compulsive, high-strung, short-tempered

Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea takes you?

Plot. Plot, plot, plot. Pantsing has historically screwed me over.

What do you think about The Freedom Awards? Would you like to suggest something to better it next time?

You're super-organised, and I like that. Each chapter in the contest book has a clear headline, clear message being conveyed, and there is no spamming, unlike a few of the other contests. You make a point of keeping all the entrants up to date and that keeps them engaged.

How do you feel about winning a Freedom Award?

Thrilled. It's amazing to be told my work is worthy of an award!

Any Message for the people of Wattpad?

Continue to write! I'm improving every day and with every book. It's such a thrill to spin a story from start to finish, and support each other -- we're all travellers on the same road, after all.

Here we will end this interview. Thank you so much again for joining us today andI hope you had as much as we did.
