Chapter Nine : The accident

Katniss POV

But then we break apart to take a breath. "I love you with all my heart Ms. Everdeen" he says with his eyes still closed. "I . . .I . . " "Shhhh. Right now, its probably not the right time. You need time to think." I respond, "Thank you Peeta"

Still shocked, he gets up and offers me a hand. I accept and he pulls me up. "I think we should check up on that boyfriend of yours. I left him over there." I don't respond and just follow him.

We reach the end of the woods to meet the road. And I saw the worst thing ever . . . . . . . .

Finnick. In the middle of the road, covered in a pool of blood. "AHHHHHHHH!" I scream st the top of my lungs. Peeta's eyes are so big, they could probably fall out. Finnick's car is smashed and Peeta's car has a few dents. I run towards Finnick and kneel down to rest his head in my lap. I lower my head to check if hes breathing. He is!!! "SOMEONE HELP!! PEETA CALL 911 !!!" I can see him dial 911.

"Katniss, Im sorry ..... I love you" I start sobbing and he starts closing his eyes. "NOOOO DONT LEAVE FINNICK!!!!! " My cheeks are soaked in my tears and Im shaking with Finnick's head still on my lap. Peeta has gone in shock and is probably like 5 yards away from me, hugging his knees and rocking back and forth. I look at him and then look back at Finnick. My life is miserable. I start shaking and I could start hearing the ambulance.

The ambulance take out the girddle and take finnick from me. They lay him on the girddle and I look down at myself. Im drenched in Finnicks blood. My hands, clothes, lap, everything. I just stare at myself with tears still in my eyes. I can bear the paramedics telling eachother stuff. The only thing I could make out was, "Now or never . . . . . we have to hurry. . . . . . or die" One of the paramedics turn towards Peeta who I can tell is in shock. Everybody is moving around me. I can't hear anything anymore. From the corner of my eye, I can see Peeta being treated and being lead to an ambluance.

And then I black-out . . . . .
