The sound of rustling stirs you from dreamless sleep and you notice that your head is resting on a soft pillow. Your eyes gently flutter open.
The first thing you see is the Prince, digging through a bag. The bag itself was unfamiliar, but you recognized the small jar full of tea he took from the bag. It was one of your grandmothers custom creations. You couldn't help but be curious as to what kind of tea he had asked her to make. You sit up, trying to rub the sleep from your eye. Suspiciously, the Prince quickly put the small jar in his pocket.
"Good morning, sleepy." He smiled sweetly. You scoot over slightly to give him space to sit next to you.
After a moment of silence, you decide to break it. Turning to look at him, your words get caught in your throat as you realize he's been staring at you, his sweet smile remaining on his features.
You instinctively chuckle lightly from nervousness. He leans forward and cups your cheek in his hand. surprised, you retract slightly, but his position is unwavered."I think you're wonderful- I mean, you're generous & loving. And I grew to enjoy your company rather quickly."
You nervously tried to produce a response "Oh, um t-"
"But" You were interrupted as he continued. "You also seem to be quite naive, which can get you in big trouble here. A sweet girl like you could easily be eaten up by the men in the kingdom." His eyes seem to darken as he continues, leaning closer.
You can feel his breath on your skin, and what he says sends shivers down your spine.
"I might even try a bite."He leans in, going for the kiss.
But just as his lips almost touch yours, the carriage stops abruptly, tumbling the two of you about, even knocking your heads together.
As everything settles, you watch as the Princes expression turns into one of fury.
"GRIMM!" the anger in his voice caused you to shrink in your seat.
You can hear the poor butler timidly apologising for the roughness.
"Some of your fathers soldiers have come to guard us on our travels, your Highness."
Curiously, you peak through one of the carriage windows, seeing iron clad men on horses. The horses themselves having their own armor pieces. Each piece adorned with the Nadrous royal symbol in gold.
The man that you could see from the window seemed to be talking to Grimm in a casual way. He seemed very tall, with dark hair. You could even manage to spot a scar on his cheek, that mangaged to stop just before reaching his nose. He seemed intimidating, though that's likely a good thing for his line of work.
But you could tell that he had kind eyes, and his body language seemed protective and gentle.
Your heart skipped a beat when he looked your way, but it settled when he sent caring smile to you before continuing his conversation with Grimm. The Prince exits the carriage to speak with the soldiers. You can't really hear them at all, but you occasionally hear some laughter. At first you curiously watch from your window, but once they move out of sight, you lose interest. They talk for a long time, so long that you start to drift off again. You're so tired today, maybe your body doesn't like travel?
You yawn and curl up, there's not much point in fighting sleep if they're going to continue talking for a while. From the empty darkness of your dreamless sleep, you could barely hear what sounded like talking. A conversation?
No.
Like somebody talking to you. Their voice seems calm and sweet, but scared, pained. Sad.
You can barely make out the words, struggling to decipher the muffled syllables. And then you heard it clearly, a calming, unfamiliar male voice.
"I love you, (Y/N)."You open your eyes, the light hurting your sensitive pupils. Amongst the blinding light, you can barely make out an unfamiliar face, covered in tears.
And then it begins to fade away.
What? Who are you? Don't leave me.. You reach out your arm, trying to take hold of your dream.
When suddenly you take hold of something. Fabric?"Miss?"
You quickly open your eyes, immediately seeing your own hand, clutching onto Grimms sleeve.
"We've arrived at the castle.."
You blink absent mindedly, trying to process what happened.
And then reality flooded back to you, pushing your dream to the back of your mind.
You've already arrived? You look out of the open door, seeing stars hanging in the dim night sky.
How long were you asleep?!
You sit up, and start to feel light headed, the walls of the carriage dancing in circles around your groggy form.
"You must be thirsty, you only woke up for a drink once." He hands you a bottle full of clean water. You take it and smile at him before taking a few large gulps. You quickly drank up more then half of it. You must have been very thirsty.
"The Prince was very worried when you wouldn't wake up, and once you began a fever he demanded that-" You interrupt him.
"Fever?" You touch your forehead, but it feels fine.
"Yes, you had quite the fever. The Prince went to fetch a medic."
His voice was comforting, and he was being very polite.
You notice that all of the luggage had been removed from the carriage.
You drink more of your water before standing up, stepping out of the carriage. Grimm lending his hand to help keep you stable. Its beautiful. Its so clean, and even the pathways are gilded in gold designs. The glass in the windows are as clear as air. Beyond those windows are gorgeous curtains, and paintings of lovely scenery hanging on the adjacent walls.
But something made you feel greatly uncomfortable. But you couldn't quite figure out what. There didn't seem to be anything dangerous around here At all.
It was clean, prestine, no trash, no mud. Like somebody had just mopped the stone. There were wonderful statues of all shapes and sizes, made of varies stones and marble. But even they looked freshly cleaned. And then you realized what was making you so uneasy.
There wasn't one plant in sight.
Not even a vase of flowers. No grass peaking through the stones, no vines on the sides of buildings.
Nothing
