Walking down the hall to your room, you could feel yourself getting excited.
But of course, it didn't last long.
From around the next turn, you could hear a familiar sugar-sweet voice.
Should I keep going?
You were apprehensive, but you remembered what the king said to you.
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you kept walking forward.
Don't be intimidated. You could hear his voice in your thoughts as you spot her rounding the corner. Just get to your destination, if you keep walking confidently then she surely won't notice you.
It seemed like it was working, but just as your finger tips graced the cold metal of the doorknob.
"(Y/N)?" Her voice was curious as she approached you "What are you doing here? Surely you're not headed to bed so early?" She inquired. For once, The Queen almost seemed genuine in her tone.
"No, I'm just fetching something for the Princes lesson."
Her eyes brighten and her cheeks turn pink.
"A private lesson?" She places a hand on her cheek and tilts her head slightly. "That's so romantic!"
Romantic?!
"Uhm, My Queen? The meeting?" The meek maid speaks up.
"Oh? Right, right!" She gives you a pat on the head before turning to walk away.
"Don't keep him waiting, Love~" She calls out as she leaves.
"Ye-Yes ma'am" You say before entering your room.
Now that you're behind a closed door, you sigh in relief. Walking to the shelf beside your bed, you pick up the music box and open the little drawer full of seeds.
Not wanting to waste them, you decide to just take a few. The curiosity starts to overwhelm the fear that the Queen caused you. At the last moment before leaving, you decide to toss on a coat.
Seeds in hand, you race back to the garden, excited to test them out.
But as you approach, you notice a guard posted at the door, who was speaking to Grimm.
Said butler saw you and called out. "(Y/N)!" He smiled at you and gestured to the guard "This is Lyrus, he'll be watching over the two of you tonight."
Lyrus gives an honorable bow "Its a pleasure to meet you, Madam (L/N)"
As he stands back up, you recognize him.
"Ah, I remember you!" You can't help but smile. "You were one of the soldiers who escorted the carriage into the kingdom."
He returns your smile "That's right, and I'm glad to see that you're well. You gave us all a fright."
That's right, you had already forgotten about that mysterious fever.
"Ah, I'm sorry." You apologize.
Grimm clears his throat.
"I think that's enough on introductions, Prince Ace isn't known for his patience, after all." He says, with a nervous tone.
"Right! I'll head in and start our lesson."
As the door closes behind you, a breath of cool night air flitters past you. Lucky that you had the idea to bring a coat.
Looking around, you don't immediately see the Prince. Not in the sitting area or the gazebo.
Heading to the back of the garden where the pond is, you finally spot him.
He hasn't noticed you yet, and for some reason, instead of approaching him further, you stop. He had his arms crossed, which made you think he was upset, but now that you could see his face, he looks perfectly serene and calm.
But then why is he crossing his arms like that?
It was likely just a strange body language thing. You walk towards him, and this time he hears your footsteps. Meeting your eyes with his own grey ones, he smiles. "Welcome back. What did you get?"
In response to his question, you happily jutted out your open hand, revealing the strange seeds resting in your palm.
He looks at the seeds, but doesn't seem as excited as you. Though not disappointed either.
"What are they?" He tilts his head slightly, a strand of loose golden hair freeing itself from his hairtye.
"I don't know actually- that's why I thought it may be fun to plant them and see what they grow into!"
Upon hearing the explanation, he too smiles, seeming more excited to plant them now.
"I have twelve of them, so I'll go make the holes for the seeds." Before you walk away, he speaks up. "Could I help?" Surprised, you stop in your tracks.
He wants to help? You think to yourself. But he hates getting dirty..
"Are you sure? You don't have to-"
"I want to." He says, matter-of-factly.
