**Lyla's pov.**

The years flew by, before anyone knew it.
One minute, we were nervous seventh graders, the next?
Anxious tenth graders, waiting for the year to begin.
But, lets not jump right to that just yet.
The ending of eighth grade, was pretty great.

Me and Andy made up.
Vic remained by his side, just like Kayla remained by mine.
Andy was remaining in the closet, about being bisexual.
He found out, how my dad reacted, and was now scared to face society.
It ticks me off, how one person's opinion, did that to him.

We were all at the award ceremony, waiting for our names to be called out.
I stood in the middle of Andy and Kayla.
Lydia and Zayne stood in front of us.
We listened, to Mr.Jefferson talk, which of course; barely anyone paid attention.

I glanced to Vic, who only noticed immediately, before sticking his tongue out at me.
Wow, this is what I was willing to deal with?
But, for the sake of being around my childhood best friend , again?
I guess, I'm willing to deal with it.
After all, those two have grown close within the last few years.

I jumped, when my name was announced over the microphone.
I heard cheering and people clapping, oh yeah.
I did become popular, once I became friends with Kayla.
I walked past my friends and sibling, slowly walking over to the front.
Once upon a time, I would of been terrified to move.
I hated eyes on me, I hated the idea of attention.
But now?
I walked up there, with my head up.
Trying my best to look confident.
Don't trip
Don't trip
Don't tr-

I winced meeting the ground.
I could hear soft chuckles, and 'holy crap are you okay?'
"Hey man! What the heck?" Some kid spat, from the back.
Where I was.

I was helped up, before turning to find.
Andy, Lydia, Zayne, Kayla and surprisingly Vic.
All on the ground.
I was so confused, before Andy looked up grinning.
"YOU GOT THIS LY!" He gave me a thumbs up.
I smiled brightly, not feeling embarrassed now.

I walked up the steps, receiving my awards, then shaking hands with our teachers; followed by the principal.
Fixing to walk off, I was stopped by Mr.Jefferson.
He smiled softly.
"Those are some friends, you have." He told me.
I smiled with a nod.
"I don't know, where I'd be without them." I said before leaving the stage.

I rejoined my friends, who were all grinning at me.
I glanced to Andy.
"Was that your idea?" I asked.
Andy smirked deviously.
"I don't know what, you're talking about?" He told me.
I smiled softly.

After the award ceremony, Mr.Vega agreed to treat us to supper.
Our dad had work, so he didn't make it to either.
Not that I really cared.
I didn't want him around Andy, as much.
Our mom was here though, she supported Andy.

The restaurant was filled with laughter, I was surprised no one was complaining.
I glanced to Andy, who kept looking to Vic.
Vic was joking around and smirking with the others.
I'm not going to get jealous, Andy has other friends, besides me now.
I won't fall back into that person, I once was.

"So, what are you guys, looking forward to in High School?" Kayla asked in the park.
I shrugged.
Lydia smiled.
"I'm going to continue with cheer leading, what about you Zayne? Gonna continue football?" She asked.
Zayne nodded with a grin.
"Heck yeah, my team is awesome." He boasted.
I smiled softly.
Kayla bumped shoulders with me, smiling.
"What about you?" She asked.

I looked down at my lap, on the swing.
"I haven't thought about it, survive?" I suggested.
Everyone soon nodded, to my answer.
I mean, I wasn't wrong.

Surviving High School? Will be a real battle.
Jr.High, was just to get us ready.
High School, is a place, where everything matters.

My attention fell on Andy, who was laughing at something Vic said.
"What about you guys?" I found myself asking.
Vic's eyes fell on me, before looking to Andy.
"Ah, I'm waiting for someone, to tell me something in High School." He said.
Not making it obvious.
I frowned but nodded.
