"I don't think it's a good idea, Sey." Leanne said with a grimace.
Anything that has to do with working anywhere near Wonwoo, especially being under his beck and call, is close to being a disaster. And she doesn't think she would appreciate being bossed around by him. No, definitely not a good idea.
"Why not?" Sey Chelle, her ever dearest manager, asked curiously over the phone. "You need a job, you want to work as close to your racing career, and you will be hitting two birds with one stone on this one." She even explained with practicality.
Yes, she's right, she admit wryly. She wants to work because she knows she can't be on the race track forever. She only has a goal. And after she got it, then perhaps she'll move on — like how Wonwoo had.
But as much as possible, she wants to be close with the path she's going to take. At least, that would ease her conscience . . .
She mentally pulled herself out from the thoughts that was bordering to the past. She doesn't think she can handle right now and focused on what Sey said - which was the practicality of the job. Safe ground.
"I'm sure there's a lot better option than that." Leanne suggested. It's not like it's only Wonwoo who can give her such opportunity. There are more.
"Better than Jeon Wonwoo?" Sey Chelle asked.
Yes. "Better than Jeon Wonwoo." Maybe no one can pass by the money she can get if she worked for his company. But money does not matter to me. She has a savings of her own.
Working with Wonwoo, seeing him everyday and knowing we are inside the same building, same place . . . No. It will greatly test the equilibrium she cultivated within herself with such difficulty, because she's aware that Wonwoo is the only man who can disrupt it, who can destroy her sanity effortlessly, as he did years ago. And reminiscing the past did not very well helped.
"You really hate this man, do you?" She can hear an hint of amusement in Sey Chelle's voice. But she's not going to satisfy her curiosity. After all, there's nothing to satisfy.
"Nothing personal." Leanne shrugged nonchalantly that could have deceived her if she could see me. But then, her eyes would probably betray the gesture and Sey Chelle would surely grill her with questions she's not prepared answer.
"I'll be the one to personally look for a job." She said.
Sey Chelle sighed. "But the offer won't stand for long, A. There are many more who wants to do what was offered to you. This is your golden chance. If you let this pass, it's like throwing a bag of gold across the river."
"I know." Maybe Sey Chelle thinks she's out of her min and that she's just being hard headed, and she doesn't care. She just don't want to see him again, let alone work with him.
"Just think it through. Give it more time before you decide on anything, okay? I'll hold the offer as long as I can. But you have to promise me, A. You will have to compromise."
She just nodded at cut the line off.
She never said no to her manager. She know she's trying her very best to give her career a boost and she's always considering her best interest at heart everytime she sought out a deal for her and her career.
Since that fateful day that Wonwoo chose Light's words over her, which completely broke her heart for the first time, she never saw him again. She moved away just like what Light said, just like what he said. She stayed away and let nursed a broken heart.
She occupied herself with work and review. And when she passed the board, she grabbed that chance to work abroad. But she didn't even found herself out of the country when her Uncle called her – a call that turned her life upside down in a blink of an eye.
