"You should eat, Aianne. You're very grim today." Her Uncle Ed sat next to her with a smile before handing a plate loaded with food.
"Thank you, Uncle." Leanne said before smiling at what he said. She still got the plate from him even if she's really not going to eat it. She just arrived so she just wanted to rest a little bit more.
"I'm sorry that this event slipped my mind."
"It's okay. What's important is that you came."
She could see that her Uncle was not looking at her but at the children playing at the playground. She followed his gaze and found two kids, a girl and a boy. The boy looks a bit older than the young girl. There is something that the little boy is blowing from the little girl's hand while she's crying. They look cute.
"I suddenly remembered you and your brother." Uncle Ed suddenly said while still watching the two but the smile vanished from his face.
"Whenever I and your Aunt come here, I always remember Light. You were also at the same age when you came to my care. You're too young then. You became my true kids when your Mom left you two in my care . . ." He said followed by a deep sigh.
"Geez. See that, Uncle? You become dramatic as you grow older." She softly elbowed his side. She just went on joking because she might cry then, the kids might wonder what happen to her. The sun is shining brightly yet her Uncle Ed is being dramatic.
"I'm really growing old." He shook his head while smiling. "I kept on saying and remembering things."
She tapped his shoulder. "It's always like that, Uncle. All of us will pass through that process." She grinned when he laughed.
"How about Aunty? I haven't seen her since I arrived."
"Ah, she's with Elle, helping the kids take a bath. For a while and I'll see what they're up to. Maybe they need some hand there. I'll also tell her that you're here."
"I'll go with you."
"Oh, no. Just stay here, sweetheart." He stopped her from standing up. "Just stay there and eat. At that look of yours, I know you need some rest."
Leanne obeyed and watched him enter the house. When was the last time she saw her Uncle? It's been seven months then. She can't remember. Yet good thing he remained healthy. He's still the same. Maybe the work on the shop help him to maintain his health.
Even if she told him that he should quit and close the mechanical shop and manage her car shop since it's for him in the first place, but he just declined. He said he just want to work that just sit in an office. So she gave the opportunity to her cousin whom she really trusts.
Since his Aunt and Uncle didn't have their own child, they decided to adopt. It's a good choice since there would be someone to be with then when she's away. Since when Light died, she sees them often
She was preoccupied with other things — just like how she strived hard to be like her brother, to become a race car driver. That's her own way of accepting and coping about his death. She tried to fill in the space he left unexpectedly. She tried to step inside his shoes and live his life — to ease the guilt.
She left the country; she joined different competitions, until she met Sey Chelle. She's one of the organizers in one of the 5-laps competition she joined. Sey became her friend until she stood out to become her manager. She helped me get into the including all international racing cups.
She doesn't really like going back since then. And if she's going to be honest with herself, it's because she was afraid to go back here and remember everything, of her loss, and Wonwoo. She's afraid to see him and make the pain come back.
