Leanne too a long side-glance at Wonwoo who was driving grimly quiet beside her, and then she turned to look at his hands. His left hand was on the wheel and the right one was absent-mindedly stroking on his temple with his elbow rested on the window.
She sighed as she tucked her hands on her lap. She tried not to be disappointed, even scolded herself for being sad, that he was not holding her hand like he always does.
Well, she thought it's not 'always' now. It will always change.
She stopped herself from sighing again. Wonwoo was so quiet after they came cross with his Aunt. He also didn't talk much at clinic while removing the bandages on his chest. Even when the doctor said that his fractures all healed, he was still like that — wordless. Soundless as an air.
She knows he's bothered. She could see that. He was worrying about his father. It was natural for son to worry. And she thinks that's good, at least. Because she can feel some emotions he's having for his father.
Maybe he would talk to his father and make things up. Of course, time is of essence now. It should tell Wonwoo what he is going to lose if he doesn't take his chance to talk to his father now.
Well, that should make her happy, because after all, something would happen soon after last night was wasted.
But why is she too nervous about it?
Nonsense, she thought as she tried to shrug that unreasonable edginess away. Maybe it's just because of what his Aunt told them before.
But it didn't go away. Instead, it seemed to grow with each passing minute that Wonwoo continued his silence.
"Wonwoo." Leanne started. She can't stand his silence. It's because of how he was acting right now that was making her even more worried.
"What are you planning to do now?" She asked. She wants to know what's running on his mind now.
He shrugged. "What plan?"
She frowned at his answer. He sounded apathetic. Blasé.
"About your Dad." She explained. "Aren't you going to talk to him?"
He frowned. "Why would I talk to him?"
Now it's her turn to crease her forehead on him. "What do you mean why? You still don't want to talk to him?" After what they heard?
She thought he would talk to his Dad after hearing the new from his Aunt. But no. Wonwoo is still being a hard one.
He combed his hair with his hand. He seemed really frustrated.
"I really don't want to talk about it right now."
"Wonwoo, you can't not talk about it. It's not all the time you can avoid your Dad. At some point, you'll have to talk to him. You know that."
He harshly breathes but he didn't speak.
"Fine." She said at his continuing silence. "You don't want to talk about it? Okay. I won't force you to." She irritatedly faces the window. She forces herself to calm down.
Why couldn't he try to open his eyes? Why does he let his pride decide for him?
She heard him sigh again. She was startled when he grabbed her hand.
"I'm sorry." He held his wrist. "Please don't be angry. I just don't want to talk about those things now."
She stayed irritated, but she turned to him. "I understand about your anger to your Dad because of the happenings before. But Wonwoo . . . Your Dad isn't going any younger. He's trying to reach you, but you're not trying. Is it so hard to put your anger on him aside?"
