"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?"
Leanne shivered at the vehemence of Wonwoo's tone as he had his jaw in a tight lock. She could see through his anger while he waits for her to explain. She swallowed the lump on her throat.
"Wonwoo, would you please calm down?" She said and hesitated to approach him. He was so mad. She forced her heart to stop beating rapidly as she tried to calm herself and think of a reasonable explanation.
"It's just a line up. It's still not final. They still have to choose from the list."
"It doesn't matter if that was just a list, Leanne. You know very well that they will pick you." His jaw clenched at every word he says. And he was right.
Sy Chelle already told her that she's on the top list for some upcoming competitions. She knows those possibilities. But she hasn't given her full commitment yet. She hasn't signed up for anything yet.
"Who even told you that?" She irritatedly finger combed her hair. Whoever told him should have mentioned that. She hasn't still agreed on any agreement.
"It's not important who spilled the beans, Leanne. What I want to know is why you didn't tell me you are racing again. Why didn't you tell me?"
She tried not to shiver again from the fury coming off from his eyes. She bloody wants to curse who told him.
"I'm sorry . . ." She closed her eyes in dismay. "I haven't told you because I know this is going to happen."
At her words, Wonwoo's face turned darker. She noticed how he clenched his fists tightly at his sides.
"And you chose to hide it from me? To lie to me?"
"I didn't lie to you." She quickly amended. "Yes, I kept it a secret but I didn't lie."
"Whatever you call it, it's just the same. I still feel cheated and lied to."
"I didn't mean to." She wants to be close to him but he beat her to it. He moved away with an accusing look stamped all over his face.
"I told you not to keep things from me. I asked for honesty. But why didn't you tell me about this stuff? Don't you trust me?" Hurt ran across his eyes. She suddenly felt weak.
"Babe, it's not like that. Of course I trust you."
"Then why?" He asked, confused.
She shrugged. "I was just afraid that you won't understand me."
"Won't understand you?" He laughed dryly. "How would you know if you didn't try?"
He shook his head and face palmed. Then he turned away like he doesn't like to see her. She can't speak up while looking at him like that He seemed really disappointed in her.
But hell, it was just a minor slip. It's not her intention to make him mad and make him think that she didn't trust him just because he didn't told him about it. She just doesn't want him to worry.
He suddenly swung around. "I thought you want to work here? I thought you wanted to be with me?" He spat on her. "Have you changed your mind now and suddenly you wanted to go back to racing? Is that it?"
"Wonwoo, please. Don't think like that."
"This is . . . fvck!" He ran a frustrating hand to his hair and heaved a deep sigh. "I just can't understand why you have to keep racing, why you still want to race. Can't you just stop and give that up?"
At that second, she saw her life — her whole life — while she's staring at Wonwoo. She stared at him and as he stood there in front of her, all she sees was some man who is selfish and vain.
