The town was small.
Colorful houses lined the streets. There were cars crashed into each other and stains of brown on the streets sidewalks and cars (which I'm guessing was blood), but luckily no sign of walkers.
"Stop! "
I looked ahead of me.
Merida and Hiccup we're walking ahead if me. I looked at them just in time to see Meri shove Hic and cause him to trip over his peg leg and hear Meri snort in a fit of laughter with Toothless walking right beside Hiccup wagging his tail.
I couldn't help but smile Rapunzel always thought they'd make a cute couple and honestly I did too.
We walked for a while. I'd hear Hiccup make corny jokes and Merida laugh at them while I focused on a safe place to stay for the winter. Every house I'd check was burned down, not safe or 100% empty.
A walker or two would pop up everyonce in a while but we easily took them down.
It was scary for me to think that this was part of a person's normal life now, but to heck with it.
It wasn't till the sun started setting when I heard voices that weren't Merida's or Hiccup's.Toothless seemed to hear them too. I heard a low growl escape from him. I crouched down behind a car and threw a pebble at Hic. I saw his head jerk forward and turn towards me. As soon as his eyes made eye contact with me I put my finger up to my lips and instructed him to get down.
He followed suit and he, Toothless and Meri got down behind a car diagonally in front of me.
"...searched all day. I can't believe we can't find her.. "
I would hear the voices clearly now and foot steps. I looked under the car. I saw a brown and red pair of boots and what seemed to be military boots stuffed with some sort of military uniform.
Military..
Okay Maybe they can help us!!

" Hands in the air! "
I heard a gun reload.
Oh. No.
I peeked through the side of the car.
A tall skinny man was pointing a gun to the car where Meri and Hic were.
A skinny female with a red cowgirl had stood beside him holding a silver hand gun.
And lastly a man dressed in a Marines uniform was behind them holding what looked like a shot gun.
"Come out" The woman commanded, still aiming her gun. I saw a bush of red curls slowly make her way out from behind the car and slowly Hiccup emerged too Toothless stepped out from behind the car and whined. . Their hands we're in the air.
" State your name and your business. " The military man said.
Hiccup liked over at Meri before answering," My name is Hiccup and this is Meri this little guy right here is Toothless "Hic said while nodding towards Toothless,"We're just trying to find supplies and a safe place to stay for winter. "

" Well ya folks can go back to wherever ya came from there's nothing here, " The lady replied with a country accent.
"Well do you know any place nearby? " Meri asked.
" Only other place I know of is a camp down over there, " The skinny man said pointing a finger, " But there's no haven there. Just a bunch of thieves that think they own whatever and whoever they run into. They're no good."
" You're not from there.... are you? " The mitary man asked.
" No sir. We came from down the river" I heard Hiccup say.
" Why so far from there? " The lady asked.
" Our place got over run" Meri answered.
" Look we need a place to stay.. Or at least people we can trust. You guys seem to know your way around here. Think you can let us tag along? At least until winter passes?. " I heard Hiccup beg.
I didn't know what to do. I was still crouched behind a car like an idiot.
"I don't know... " I heard the girl say.
" We have a camp.. Lots of survivors lots of food. Lots of weapons. I don't know if we'll have room for you guys but... Sure why not. "
"Yes!! " I heard Hiccup celebrate.
" We'll have to interview you guys first make sure you're clean and have nothing to do with the other camp. " The woman answered
" Thatd be no problem ma'am thank you! " I heard Meri say.
" Jack you can come out now" Hiccup called.
I stiffened.
"Jack? "
I rose and got on my feet. Three guns automatically aimed at me.
"Woah! He's with us! " Hiccup said while reaching toward me.
The guns came down.
I looked at them with an embarrassed smile.
"Sorry" I managed to choke out.
