The leaves slowly turned different shades of red, orange, yellow and browns. The sun rose earlier and set sooner. The breeze grew chilly and animals we're getting harder to find. Winter was very near and we still had no idea what we were doing. Hiccup suggested finding another camp, but Jack refused. He had said he didn't want it to get taken down. I could see his reasoning behind it.
Today the sky was gray. The sun was peeking from behind a dark cloud and the wind was begining to pick up speed. We had been walking for days now so it was no surprise to me when the trees started to thin out and we were met by a huge sign.

We walked passed it and began to make our way to the street.
"We can head in the town and scrape up whatever we can find."
I saw Jack nod from the corner of my eye.
....
The streets were extremely quiet. All I heard was my footsteps along with Hic's and Jack's and also Toothless panting . We walked about two blocks when I saw a gas station. Holding my breath, I prayed we would find something inside that was useful.
When we finally made our way to the door, Hiccup spoke up.
"Make as little noise as possible."
I nodded knowing the noise would only attract walkers. I grabbed the door handle and pulled the door open. A small ding! Was made when I opened the door. Hiccup suddenly held my shoulder. When I looked back he held his finger up to his mouth. I looked back inside the store. Suddenly I heard fast footsteps and a growl as a limping walker found his way out of an aisle and towards me. Toothless whined and back away. I quickly pulled out my bow and reached behind me to grab an arrow but mentally slapped myself when all I grabbed was air. Of course!! I forgot to make more arrows!! Jack stepped in front of me before the Walker could reach me, kicked his leg out and hit the Walker right on his stomach with enough force to knock him down. Hiccup acted quickly and pushed an empty rack on the walker before it could stand up.
The walker snarled and reached its hand up trying to get Jack to taste his pale skin. It looked like the walker was a woman. Locks of hair were missing in some places. Her face was torn and rotten with purple veins showing all over the place and bullet wound right on her chest. She was dressed in a bright yellow v neck and light blue jeans. She was wearing brown boots and her hair was in an extremely messy bun.
She growled loudly and clawed eyeing them with hunger in her eyes. Toothless barked happily.
"We got her boy " I assured Toothless.
"She looks angry, " Hiccup said.
" Well I'd be angry too if I had a face like that, "Jack commented.
I held back a snicker putting my hand up to cover my mouth.
Hiccup grabbed a metal rod lay in on the ground.
" Anyone wanna do the honors? " He asked.
"Gimme that" I said while taking the rod from his hand and preparing to swing.
....
"Okay we got.... A battery... A very small bag of chips.. a granola bar.. 3 bullets.. Aaaaannnnd that's it. " Hiccup announced.
We were sitting on the roof of the gas station thinking we'd be safer up here.

Jack let out a deep breath, threw his head back and let out a shout of frustration.
He then got up, went to the end of the building and began to climb down. As soon as he disappeared, Hiccup and I
shared questioning looks.
Hiccup began to get up when I placed a cold hand on his knee.
"Just let him cool down" I said.
Hiccup looked toward the edge of the building before sitting back down.
An award silence surrounded us.
"You know Mer... About me putting my arm around you when we were in the forest.. I didn't mean to.. Startle you?..
I mean I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable with the situation I mean I don't want you to think I like you.. I mean I do like you !!!! but ummm.. I-I-"
Hiccups face was as red as my hair. I couldn't help letting out a fit of laughter. After a few seconds I started to snort and that caused Hiccup to start laughing.
He was really cute.

Night time came. Jack had wandered his way back on the roof. He was curled up in a ball facing away from us using his hands as his pillow and Toothless was laying his head on Jack's legs.
The night was cold. Hiccup and I were both resting beside each other with our hands tucked under our heads. We watched the twinkling stars above us quietly.
" That one is the prettiest " I heard Hiccup say. I turned myself to my side so I could see him.
" It's the brightest one. " He said. I could see his hot breath in the cold air. He looked like he was a dragon getting ready to shoot out flames. I smiled to myself remembering how interested he used to be in them during middle school. He got picked on a lot for it. We had all gotten picked on growing up. He got picked on for being a "nerd". Jack got picked on for not having parents, Rapunzel got picked on for being a huge art person and being so naive and I got picked on for not fitting in the normal girl standards. During school there were rumors that I was a lesbian. Not that there's anything wrong with them. The only problem that I had with it was that it wasn't true. The rumor worked and pretty much every girl stopped hanging out with me except Rapunzel.
I felt tears begin to sting at the corner of my eyes.
I let out a shakey breath before rubbing my hands against my arms.
" You cold?"
I heard Hiccup ask.
" Just a bit" I answered.
Hiccup stayed quiet for a bit.
He then opened his arms.
" You don't have to if you don't want to .. Think of it as a friendly gesture." My face started to feel a little hot.
I nodded and moved closer to Hiccup. His arms embraced me and I could feel his warm chest and body blocking. Me from the cold. Our body heat would actually keep us a bit warmer. I felt pressure on the back of my head and felt myself being pushed against Hiccups chest.
I froze, but I let the satisfaction of his warm body comfort me and I felt myself relax.
My eyes began to shut closed.
I knew that behind me Jack was wishing a certain Blond was curled up against him like I was now... Just as they had been many many many nights ago.
