Chapter 25.

I jump awake with the sudden sensation of a heart attack as I hear a huge crash. I sit up and listen closely as I hear things ramming around downstairs, and the sounds of the muffled grunts of a male.

I rip my blankets away from my body and stumble to my feet as I hear the smashing and struggling getting closer. And before I knew it, I could hear Andrew beating on my door.

"Kate! Kate, open the door, please!" he pleads with confounded agony, antsy to get away from whatever was causing the noise.

I quickly run to the door and twist the lock to let him inside. He barrels in and pushes me back so he could close the door before something could get in. From what I could take from it, it was following him closely.

"What's going on?!" I ask him as he holds the barging door.

"He's after me! The killer!"

"The what?!" I felt my stomach flip in fear.

But that question was answered itself once a man breaks through the door and steps inside.

"Get back  here, you ill-fated coward," I heard a dark, familiar voice growl. The anger saturating that voice made me shiver, and wonder how anyone could manage to sound so hateful, and evil. Even though it was horrifying and terribly dangerous, I still found myself drawn to his voice. There was no question that he was mine.... But in a more accurate statement, I was his.

Sure enough he turns around, showing his strong, square jawline and his defined eye shape. His piercing white eyes make contact with my weak and frightened ones, and narrow when they see my many mixed emotions.

"Jeff?"

From in between Andrew's incessant begs and pleads for his life, he manages to stop and turn to me with the confusion in his eyes never so strong. "Oh God, you know him?!"

I look at Jeff and feel my heart crack and split with every passing second. "Yes."

The knife in Jeff's hand is what I flick my gaze to. It remains tightly clenched in his fist, his knuckles turning white.

"Why are you doing this?" I ask Jeff.

He looks to me, his eyes growing cold and hateful. "Because, Kate. You know, I thought that you, of all people, would know exactly why I'm chasing him."

"I don't."

He purses his lips and tries to relax, so he wouldn't lose his mind and end up killing the both of us. Then he inches towards me, not disconnecting eye-contact with me.

"I felt it, Kate. I know something is  going to happen with him. Can't you feel it? Pain?"

At first I was taken back, but then I realized.... I have.

I felt it. It was the pain I felt before I went to sleep. My rib cage, straight over my heart, all the way to my sides. And just when I thought of it, the pain occurred again. I sucked in a breath and held it in before Jeff could see that I was hiding it.

He gives me a long look before looking away harshly and grabbing Andrew roughly by the shirt, pulling him higher.

"Just keep away from her. You understand?"
