I dedicate this chapter to one of my dear readers @Alishar09 because she is a wonderful person who is extremely in love with this story.
She is family and cares about this book deeply which is why I keep writing. She reads the chapters and helps with simple grammar mistakes that are needed. This girl scolds me every time I make Nathan get worse with his anger or the silly mistakes he makes. She keeps me going and tells me where things should go.
She is a true supporter of Nathan and Athena, like hardcore.
She is artistically talented as well as a good chef. I hope she writes her own story one day or follows whatever dreams she sets for herself. For right now, she's going to continue watching scary youtube videos while mocking whatever memes that are around.
I love you man.
I hope you enjoy the chapter :)
Chapter 22
*Athena' Point of View*
I held the book in my hands as my finger turned a single page, waiting to know the next part of the scene. I was back at the library, it's December 28th so it's still open. I missed coming here, it has been too long. Dean went somewhere for the day on business which meant dealing with whatever drugs he had in his possession. If I didn't get caught up in his dealing I didn't care what he did. All I know is that I cannot get caught with anything on me or it's permanent jail time.
I have been here all day since I woke up. Dean's house is a few minutes away from the library even closer than my house was. It wasn't a horrible walk, plus, having the day to myself gives me time to think.
Hours pass with me sitting in the same chair, maybe in different sitting positions but in the same seat. I despised taking the books home because it gave me an odd feeling knowing I had to finish it by a certain date. I would rather take my time reading it at the library, if I didn't finish it I would put it back but know the page where I left off. Someone else might want to read the same book and maybe they wanted it more to me, therefore they should get it.
I kept my phone on don't disturb so no one could interrupt my reading session. There was no reason for anyone to call me anyway, my family hated me as well as everyone else. It bothered me that I couldn't go back home now. I know my parents are probably mad or upset but they know I'm close by which did give them some relief. My brothers probably don't care about me, they wouldn't notice if I left and never came back. Home hasn't felt like home anymore. Nathan was always there with his brother, I couldn't breathe in my own house.
I turned to the page into the last chapter of the book before I heard the main doors to the library open and slam. I look up and wondered who in the world would be so angry at the library doors. It was Dean, but he looked terribly angry, confused and not himself at all. He looked back and forth through the library until his eyes landed on me. My boyfriend let out a sigh of relief but still looked pissed off. I made a note in my head of what page I was on then closed the book.
"Where the fuck have you been?! I have been calling you for hours! Hours! I was worried you left me or got hurt or something!" Dean semi-yelled at me while flailing his arms around. I stared at him, I have never heard him raise his voice to me before. I sat there wondering why he was so worried. Why would I leave him? He left me for the day, did he expect me to stay home and wait for him?
"You went out for the day and I left like I needed it too. I have been here all day, I am fine as you can see. There is nothing to be worried about anymore." I assured and explained why I was here. His eyes were wild, the color was so different than usual.
