Chapter 19

*Athena's Point of View*

It's the day before Christmas Eve. I am standing in a large warehouse filled crazed young adults having the time of their life. I thought it was going to be a normal club but no, I was wrong, it was a rave. I was all by myself. Even though, I have been spending all of my time with Dean, he left me by myself in an unsafe area. I didn't know where this place was, I didn't even know if it was in our state.

I have gotten close to Dean just like I did with Nathan but even faster, he was so much easier to be with. He never yelled at me or caused drama with anything. He was just the type of person to do whatever they want and have a good time. We were either at school talking outside or at his house watching a movie or smoking. I loved being with him, there was nothing serious going on. There was the occasional occurrence of holding hands, me falling on him by mistake or him showing me some sort gesture of affection. I didn't mind but my brothers surely did. They despised him with their hearts just like they did with Mason. They didn't know Dean personally, but they heard all of the stupid rumors that the school spread.

He killed his parents. He's a drug addict. He is a psycho. He was kicked out of his old school.

I have no clue if any of these things were true. All my time with him has shown me the complete opposite.

Multiple people came up to me, trying to pull me away from where I stood but I refused every time. I didn't feel comfortable leaving the space I found safe. Dean was nowhere in sight and I was starting to get anxious. I didn't have my cigarettes with me and my body temperature was getting hotter each second from this confined environment.

I felt my heart's beatings become more rapid and the pain returned like it always did. I left my spot and made my way outside to calm down. There was no one outside except a few smokers. I sat down and waited for my body temperature to return to normal, but I sat there for a little too long. I was freezing at this point. I needed to choose if I wanted to die from the heat or the cold.

"Are you okay?" I looked up and saw a blonde boy standing in front of me. He was dressed in heavy clothing as if he never stepped foot into the building. I nodded my head, too cold to speak. "You are turning blue, darling." He pulled off his large coat and wrapped it around me. "Do you have someone here with you?" He turned his head back and forth, trying to find my companion who was not even in eyesight. I nodded my head slowly. I didn't want him to think he could do something to me. Dean would come find me, right? "Can you say something, love?" He asked.

"Thank--you" I stuttered out. Soon his furry coat warmed me up quickly, but my legs felt like they weren't able to move. "I couldn't be in there anymore." The boy nodded as if he understood why.

"Not much of a party girl, huh? Yeah, me neither. I just walk around until my friends are done and wasted so I can take them home safely. The walking keeps me warm." The guy kept looking around as he spoke, looking for a specific someone.

"Athena-my name's Athena," I told him. He looked over at me and grinned.

"My name is Luke." He stuck out his hand, I shook his cold hand, quickly feeling the terrible temperature. Every moment that was passing I felt angrier with Dean. He left me but came back every few hours with a little more of a lump in his pockets. Last time I saw him there was specks of green sticking out, money. He was selling something, and I didn't want to know what. That was beside the point, he brought me to a place I am completely unaware of and leaves. I didn't know when he was going to be done, I should've just stayed home with my family. My mistake.
