Chapter 17
I glided through the sea of students that filled the narrow halls, no one dared to bump into me. I think they thought they would catch my disease if they did. Despise my so-called disease, Dean always stays around. I still don't speak to him, it's been about 2 weeks since I met him. He's like an annoying bug even if I swat at it, it comes back.
My thoughts were cut off when Nathan grabbed my arm and pulled me against the lockers, "we need to talk," he announced. I tried to rip my arm out of his grasp but he made the hold tighter. "I'm not letting you walk away from me again, Athena." I haven't spoken to him in quite a while, I avoided him like he was the plague. "I miss you, I miss us. I hate myself for what I did, how you physically left the country because of my stupid actions. I care for you but I'm just a stupid person who makes shitty decisions. I miss talking to you, I want to hear your voice again. I'm not forcing you to forgive me, please think about it-" Nathan was cut off when Dean came up to us.
"Is everything alright here, Blu?" Dean glared at Nathan's hand on my arm, suffocating my skin. "I suggest you let her go man." He stepped closer to Nathan, enclosing him against the lockers.
"Who do you think you are? We were having a private conversation." Nathan said angrily. He takes his anger out on me, making the grip even tighter than before. I close my eyes as the pressure starts to get to me, I don't make a noise as my arm changes to a different shade. Dean stares at my arm and pulls Nathan's hand off of me,
"I told you to let go of her, that's no way to treat a woman." Dean chuckles under his breath, taking another step towards Nathan. He's practically breathing on him which makes my heart race. I mentally thank him for making the boy get his hand off of me. I caress my arm, checking if everything was okay. "You don't want to know what I do to guys who mistreat a woman." He smiled evilly which made me smile lightly. The scene that was unfolding in front of my eyes, I wanted to jump in but Nathan needed this wake-up call. "I don't ever want to see you touch her again, if I do, I wouldn't suggest running away because I will find you." The serious boy whispered to the frightened boy who was being held against the wall, he probably thought I couldn't hear him.
Dean gives Nathan one more hard glare before taking my hand and making me follow him down the hallway. Everyone stares at us, the new bad boy with the supposed crazy mute freak of the school, what a sight to see. I try to pull my hand away from him but he refused to let go, only increasing my anger. "Are you okay? Let me see your arm." He asked, gently holding up my arm. "You're going to have a bruise but other than that you will be fine." I nodded my head, looking up at him.
I open my mouth to say thank you, for a split second I forget that I was mute. I forget that small fact about me because my anger took over me. Once again, I didn't take my medication, that never turns out well. I quickly close my mouth and try to walk away from him, but he held my hand keeping me from getting away from him. "You were going to say something, what was it?" He asked but I shook my head and proceeded to get away from him again. "I'm not letting you leave until you say something to me, just a single word is fine." I gave him an angry look, who did he think he was?
I shook my head aggressively again, I didn't know him and he didn't deserve the benefit of the doubt. "Just say something." He pushed. I felt my face turning red, I didn't like being forced to do anything especially by someone I don't know. "Something! Anything!" He yelled at me which made me want to punch him.
"You want me to say something?! Okay here it is, fuck you!" I screamed at him, he held a very shocked face. I hold up my hands, showing my middle finger to empathize on my emotions. I took this opportunity and pulled my arm away from him and walked away to go to class. I didn't turn around because I knew he was going to be smiling.
*Third person point of view*
Dean smiled as Athena walks away from, he got her to say something. She was so sassy without even speaking and he loved that. His mind drifted to Nathan, the way his eyes held so much emotion for Athena made him question what kind of relationship they had. Athena seemed so annoyed but the boy wanted nothing more than to fix what they had. Dean refuses to let that kid near his new prize. To him, Athena was a beautiful very unique trophy that any man should cherish. In his eyes, he was the lucky one who accepted that opportunity.
Nathan wanted to punch the unknown guy that ruined his one chance to talk to Athena, he fucked it up for him. He knew that now he would have to deal with this guy as well. Nathan knows that speaking and making up with Athena was going to be a hard task since she is the most stubborn person he knows. The fact that she doesn't talk again makes things so much worse. Nathan stared at them as the guy dragged her down the hallway, she seemed fed up with him as well. He wanted to go over there and yell at the guy for treating her so harshly but he had done the same thing a few minutes prior.
Dean was obsessed with her and it was already bad. Ever since he first saw her, he needed to have her. Some who was just as crazy and odd as him. Someone who could understand him. He wasn't going to stop until she was with him forever, not until she was in love with him. He understands that his obsession with her was already unhealthy but he didn't care anymore. Dean can see in her mismatched eyes that she had some kind of feelings for him as well. Now that she talks, he was going to ruin other men for her so she wouldn't see any other man interesting to her. His first task going to get rid of the boy who dared to leave a bruise on his girl.
Athena believed that Dean was extremely attractive, annoying but gorgeous and she couldn't seem to take her mind off of him. She wanted to thank Dean for pushing Nathan away when she couldn't but that means talking. Her mind crossed the subject multiple times in that classroom, that's all she could think about.
Talk to him, get over the mute shit. You are missing out on something amazing if you let that guy go, She thought to herself. By the end of that class, she made up her unorganized mind. A teenage boy she didn't know wanted her to speak for a reason. A reason that is still unknown to her. Maybe it was for him, maybe it was for her to have a happier life. She was going to talk now, she was strong enough to do that for herself. She needed to talk, express who she was even if other didn't like it.
She needed to live her life to the fullest even if others judged her for how she lived.
