For my brothers,
And for every boy who's ever felt insecure
-----------------------------------
If you were to ask 100 people if they've heard of anorexia, chances are, 99 of them would likely say they have. Some may even say they know someone with an eating disorder.
But in the shadows of this already dark illness called body dysmorphic disorder lies a sub-type that people rarely talk about. It's found in the boys who think that they aren't "big enough" or "strong enough". It's found in the boys whose low sense of self-image is overlooked in the search to help self-conscious girls. It's found in the men that many think are okay to be objectified, and objectified by the women who don't want to be looked at as objects either.
It's called muscle dysmorphia, or more commonly known by its nickname, bigorexia.
But this is one of these stories.
My name is Nathan Henry, and I am one of those boys.
