This Thing Called Love

Today was Sunday, and John and I are on the road to New Jersey for Raw.. These past few days have been twisted and cloudy.. And exhausting.. It feels like my heart is playing tug of war with my brain.. These little moments with Roman are just stuck on my mind and I'm trying to get rid of them but they just won't go away.. The thoughts and memories are making me think about the past and whether I miss it or not.. I was looking out the window when I felt John place his hand in my thigh. I turned my head in his direction. "Hey, you okay? You've been sort of quiet?" I nodded "Of course.. Just a bit tired." He chuckled at that. "You and me both." Awkward silence filled the car until he cleared his throat.. "Look Nicole, I know that you've been upset with me lately.. And for that, I apologize. But this is our first time on Raw since the draft.. And this whole issue with Roman, is big.. He is trying to take my place in WWE, something that took years and years for me to build.. I don't just want to hand all my blood, sweat, and tears to some pretty boy who was born into this business.. I want to hand it to someone who has worked for everything, instead of having everything handed to them." I felt discomfort in his statement. "Roman wasn't handed anything." I said the words faster than I could stop them.. He looked at me "You're defending him?" I shook my head "N-No, I'm just saying.. That everyone knows that Roman fought for all that's he's gotten.. All those titles and those-" "Those were handed to him by Triple H!" "John, how can you say that when Roman took the title from Triple H?" I saw him grip the steering wheel "I can't believe that you're sitting here defending him after all that he did to you." "John, I'm not defending him.. I'm just giving credit where credit is due.. Roman fought for everything that he has accomplished.. Just like you. And don't ever bring that up again." "What? The fact that he cheated on you?" His voice full of malice. I felt my eyes water "He didn't-" "Oh now what? You're gonna sit there and say he didn't cheat on you?! We all saw it Nicole! Reigns treated you like nothing.. Made you feel like nothing.. But yet you defend him!" I quickly turned my eyes to the window as my tears ran down my face.. Now I really felt like nothing, but it wasn't because of Roman.
