Y/N clenched the steering wheel with a tight grip, her knuckles white from the pressure. She was on her way there, on her way to her new start. Images of the night before flashed through her head, and her eyes started to water again. No matter how many tears fell she seemed to never run out of them, her well seemed to never run dry. She shook her head of those thoughts, trying her best to concentrate on the boring road ahead. It was 9:30 in the morning, the sun was bright and Cheryls phone was buzzing relentlessly. It was probably her mother, but at this point, neither of them cared.
Y/N looked to the seat beside her, Cheryl was asleep and looked so damn peaceful, so happy. Y/N had seen Cheryl sleep before as creepy as that sounds, but they've had many sleepovers, often Cheryl escaping to Y/Ns old apartment. Everytime Cheryl was asleep, she looked worried, as if she were going to wake at any given second and the cruel world would batter her down again, but this time... this time she looked like she could sleep with ease. This new beginning seemed like it was perfect for the two of them.
Y/N then looked in the rear view window, their bags packed tightly in the backseat of her small five person car. She couldn't even see out of the back window, just the side view mirrors were her only indication that someone was behind her. They had been driving for four hours now, leaving at 5am, right before Cheryls mother would arise. They didn't tell her where they were going, they didn't think she'd care, but she must have just a little bit by the sound of Cheryls phone in the cup holder.
--flashback--
"Cheryl, are you sure you want to do this?" Y/N asked for the millionth time, and the red haired girl just rolled her eyes, pushing her last bag into the backseat.
"Sweetheart, I've told you too many times to count, I'm sure." she said, slamming the door.
"You could keep it a bit quieter, I don't need your devil of a mother coming down and having me shot next." Y/N said, and Cheryl sighed.
