It really shouldn't be such a big deal, I mean it is just a group, and being a serpent is just a title, and Y/N was never big on titles anyways, so it's not like it was a big deal to her

It really shouldn't be such a big deal, I mean it is just a group, and being a serpent is just a title, and Y/N was never big on titles anyways, so it's not like it was a big deal to her. The Southside serpents were the change she felt that Riverdale needed, the underdogs of the town, and who doesn't love a good underdog story? It was common knowledge that the underdog always pulls through in the end, always wins, and she was really hoping that would be the case this time.

Y/N was really good at hiding the fact she had joined the serpents, the only people who had found out was Cheryl and Veronica, but even then that was by accident, and not planned out by her. They had seen her walk into her apartment late at night wearing her jacket when they had stopped by with a milkshake. Y/N had cancelled her plans that night with them to have that said milkshake, her excuse was personal reasons so they came by to check on her.

Shocked would be the best word to describe how they felt when they found out, but she was grateful they weren't mad. That's what she thought would happen when they found out, she was sure they'd be angry, especially Cheryl, but to her complete surprise, they were open to it. In fact, they had asked to come inside her apartment and they talked about when it had happened, and promised not to tell anyone about it.

That was the day that Cheryl and Veronica became even closer to Y/N than they were before, but even with her secret in their knowledge, they still didn't come even close to how close she is to Jughead. Y/N would have told Jughead before anyone else, but she was hesitant, she had heard Betty's stand point on the whole situation, and she didn't want her to know. She was sure Jughead wouldn't say anything to her, she trusted him, but then again, she never knew.

She was also sure that her and Jughead were supposed to be together, and that he had felt the same about her, but out of no where him and Betty announced their relationship, and since that day her and her long time best friend had been barely speaking. The nights at Pops became fewer, the lunches ditched to write in the Blue and Gold office had been reduced to almost none once Betty had taken her spot, and her once constant stream of text messages from the boy now had come far and few between.
