Y/N took a drag from her cigarette, leaning her head back in her chair as the serpents around her laughed and chatted, the sound of a party filling the air. The smoke arose from her corner of the room, wisps dancing around, giving a telling sign to where the girl was hiding. Y/N was never much of a party girl, she much rather the quiet space of Pops diner, the sound of neon lights and soft chatter of the Northsider people to the loud and crazy sounds of glass breaking and men yelling. It was not her choice to be here tonight, but more her best friend Toni's constant pressure to be social with the gang Y/N so strongly affiliated herself with. So here she sat, alone and in a camping chair in the corner of the bar, a cigarette between her red lips, inhaling what was sure to be her downfall a few years down the road.
Being at the party wasn't the worst thing in the world, she liked to people watch, and this was the perfect place to do just that. She watched as the men and women she grew up looking up to danced around, beer spilling from cups and rowdy fights broke out between them. She had ditched Toni about twenty minutes before, she was going off about having to meet a newcomer to the gang and she got bored, not wanting to be apart of it. She slipped off through the crowd just as the said newcomer was seen coming through the door, Toni calling him over. Y/N never got a look at the man, but she didn't really care either, she was sure to meet him at some point, why did she have to greet him first thing? It seemed like such an awkward and forced meeting, and Y/N despised those.
Just on cue, Toni pushed through the crowd, finding the (y/h/c) tapping the ashes from her death stick, a pissed off expression written across her face.
"Topaz!" Y/N said, faking excitement, and she rolled her eyes.
"Save it Q, I'm not happy with you." Toni said, using the girls nickname instead of her normal name. Y/N went by Q with all the serpents, it stemmed from Y/N calling herself the Queen of Hell all the time. Since nobody wants to walk around calling someone 'Queen of Hell' constantly, they just started calling her Q, Q for queen, and Y/N was fine with it. It was odd, it was different, and she liked it. Y/N sat up straight, throwing her cigarette on the wood floors and crushing it under her boot, smiling up to her friend.
