your casting eyes wait in anticipation
everyone's mouths curled into a smile
it's a time for the night sky stars to step out of the spotlight
to allow the coloured streaks to glimmer and diminish
your glassy eyes see the fireworks in the sky
then you instantly think 'it must be a celebration!'
as you try to locate the beautiful display on every new year's eve
your lips turning upward once you do; and now you can no longer taste the salt that touched the edge of your chin,
but then, they stop abruptly.
soon, all you hear the cries of despair and horrific screams the only thing you can hear
despite the fireworks starting to light up the sky once more,
all the positive energy now fear,
hearts jumping to their throats, frozen in their spots
as they see their loved ones touched by the ghost of death
what could have been a joyous start to a year,
now remains a fatal mistake
because the good were so entranced by the 'bad'.
one second, one glance at the beautiful girl across the street
a slip of the lever -
then what?
+
'i'm sorry, but it's not my problem that you lost focus on what you should have been paying attention to,' she rubbed her temple furiously as she spoke to the man accused of attempted murder.
'now, it's everyone's problem.'
oh, how the man wished the beautiful girl hadn't appeared that day.
but he knew that he shouldn't have stared mindlessly at her in the first place -
after all, she wasn't his.
and now she'll never be.
okay, so i wanted to create a happy, celebratory poem, but nope. i got this instead. and it doesn't make sense.
i guess what im trying to say is that mind focus is so important and how giving in to temptation can severely impact our lives (whether it becomes a habit or actually ruins us) and i hope we all strive to be better versions of ourselves in this new year. (even though it hardly ever turns out that way)
anyways, i'm so sorry for having not updated anything in almost three weeks. i have no motivation and i'm sorry, this isn't my best.
BUT you guys are brilliant. how come last update i had just reached 10K, now we're at 11.8K? WHAT. this is the fastest read jump so far. thank you. so much.
Happy (almost) 2018! I hope this year is good to you.
