Shawn's POV
January 9, 2018
"You ignored all of my texts for almost a week, didn't look at any of the Snapchats I sent you and now you're at my doorstep, giving me a 15 minute warning, asking for hot chocolate and shelter." I step onto the porch of my family's home as April walks up the wood steps. Her eyes shined, the sun was setting and it's actually freezing out.
"Let me in, it's cold." She says, her breath fogged in the air and she was shaking, I let her tiny body pass me before closing the door.
"Brian's on his way here, he was bringing over a new video game and some beer." She looks at me and grins, winking after I say beer. I laugh and follow her walk around my house.
"Where's the family?" She asks, swiftly taking a tour of my first floor, pouting when she sees no one was here. "My sister had a hockey game, they told me to stay home cuz recruiters were there for the guys and they didn't want to draw any unnecessary attention." I reveal and she bites her lips and rolls her eyes.
"People suck," she says and then takes a seat on my couch and I follow. "Yeah, especially ones that break Snapchat streaks." I say looking at her, she blushes and turns to look away. I see Brian's car pull up in the driveway and I pray April and Brian don't argue that much tonight.
I really wanted her to stay over tonight, maybe we'll have a little fun, getting closer with her.
"I deleted Snapchat, I don't like it anymore so I got Instagram!" She takes out her phone and shows me her page. I laugh, "no posts yet, following 2 with 1 follower."
"Shut up, nasty, I made it this morning. A follow back will be greatly appreciated." She snaps and reaches over my body to grab my phone but I snatch it away just in time. April misses and falls onto my lap. "I'm that one follower, she begged me and I told her I'd follow her back if she did me a huge favor," Brian smirks walking in from the backyard as he watches my face soften at his response.
April scoffs throwing a pillow at him. "He's joking!" She assures me, digging her head into my chest, embarrassed at what Brian says.
I giggle and Brian rolls his eyes making a disgusted face at me. I'm seriously about to tell him to leave, the girl who's been crossing my mind more than I'll admit is over and enjoying my company.
"'I'm getting upset, Mendes. First you don't make me my hot chocolate I desperately asked for and now you're keeping your phone away from me." She scoffs playfully and rests her head on my lap.
She closed her eyes and I stared down at her. Brian was setting up the game, already on his second can of beer. "What? I'm internationally famous, you know. You might not like what you see." I admit and unlock my phone to find her profile.
"Yeah, well soon I'll be famous and you'll feel sorry you weren't my second follower." Her eyes were still closed yet a small smirk was growing and I look down at her cute little lips, wishing I could kiss them.
"Yeah, I'll be so sorry. So will my groupies." I shot back at April and her face softens. She sits up and gives me a look. "Mhm," she presses her lips together and looks away.
"It was a joke, April." I say and I see her jaw tighten. "Yeah, whatever, have fun with those girls." She rolls her eyes and Brian chuckles.
"Throw me a beer." She asks her ex and he does in fact, throw her a beer. I just sat there and waited till April was relaxed again.
"You're really testing me, Mendes. Stop looking at me like that."
"Oh look, one of my babes texted me." I smirk and April looks over at me and then to Brian. "You're kidding," her voice cracks and she looks at Brian once again. "He's kidding, right?" He gives her a half smile and I see her lips start to tremble.
She soon snaps out of it, Brian was focused on the game and I couldn't stop staring at April drink in front of me for the first time. "My favorite song is Little Bird, by Ed Sheeran." April slurs, struggling to get those words out and both Brian and I look up at her quickly.
"Oh, forgot to mention, she gets drunk after one beer." Brian raises an eyebrow and I watch April scroll through Instagram, liking all of my posts.
"I think I'll post this picture and caption it the poem I wrote about you, then I'm going to expose your Pickering ass so hard." She snorts and I grin, thinking of how I can mess with her.
"Do it, I don't care!" I say and she turns to me, frowning. "What?"
"I said do it," I talk to an intoxicated April, she was tipsy and full of emotions; still looked pretty hot. "I really don't care what you do!" I scoff and she gets up. "Oh, is that so?"
She walks over to Brian and I chug the rest of my beer. "You care now?" She pulls on Brian's shirt and presses her lips onto his, kissing him.
"There's a party tomorrow night, make sure you're there with a large hot chocolate and as an apology or I'm blocking you off my Instagram." She sits up, wiping her lips, anger rose in her voice as she said goodbye closing the door behind her.
"She didn't drive, right?" Brian asks and I shake my head. "She lives two blocks over, why would she drive here?" I spit out and Brian flips me off.
"Dude, you're not going to win her over like this," he then says and I sigh throwing my face into the couch and letting my phone fall off the sofa, right after following April.
April's POV
January 10, 2018
I walked out of my bathroom looking like I was in a depressing movie as my hair was dripping all over the floor and my eyes were stained with mascara I didn't wash off yet.
The world is spinning and I want to vomit. It's awfully cold and a migraine was threatening my temples. Fuck this.
"Shawn, you're driving me absolutely insane." I comment on his Instagram post, seconds later I was blocked.
"That's odd," I say out loud, munching away on saltine crackers for my stomach ache.
"Was it something I did?" I open Shawn's profile page and now I'm completely blocked.
Well, two can play at this game.
