I huffed, kicking the ocean as the waves came in and out. "This connection sucks!" I mumble as I walk along the shore and listen to April venting away on FaceTime.
California is hot and wonderful, but I feel so cold and lonely without April sleeping next to me. As cheesy as it sounds. "Sorry, what? You're having troubles at work? I can't really hear you that well." I chuckle as April's face was replaced with a laggy screen.
The vibrant colors of the sunset reflected on the clear ocean don't even come close to her beautiful eyes and flawless smile. I just wanna see her in person, not on some crappy FaceTime call.
"Shawn! Get away from the ocean, don't you know there's trashy service over there?" She says moments after she's reloaded. I smile as she playfully rolls her eyes.
"Like I was saying," April starts up again and smirks revealing her dimples, I walk away from the water and towards my beach towel and chair. April told me I needed to tan if I was gonna stay here to finish the album.
"Last night I was working over my break cuz, yanno I'm broke and just took my girlfriends out for dinner and drinks after a vacation with you, Mr. Mendes." I laugh at that ending comment and wait for her to go on. "Some kid came into my little office space and asked for a couple napkins cuz he spilled his drink." April raises her eyebrows, I've noticed she talks with her hands a lot.
Must be an Italian thing.
"I turned around to give the kid some paper towels, he spills the rest of his fucking drink all over my desk! I nearly had a heart attack." She finishes and I lightly chuckle sitting down on my towel.
My feet were wet and the sand was just doing that annoying thing. Ugh. "It wasn't funny! Oh! You have little beach waves from the ocean. Ugh I love your hair."
"Did your boss have anything to say about that?" I ask her, she shrugs her shoulders and tells me she got yelled at but couldn't stop laughing as she was being scolded.
"You're a bad girl, Nunzio." I say and she gives me a weird look. "Did you just say my last name?" She scoffs and I scrunch my face. "Only I can call you by your last name because it fits perfectly somehow- I don't know how you're so perfect but- call me something cute, Shawn. Like baby or princess." She giggles and I smile.
"Alright, babe. I'm coming home tomorrow night, it's my uncle's birthday. I'm probably going to stay at my parents' place but I wanna take you out one night, I'll be home for 3 days." I tell her and I see her cheeks redden.
"Take me out? Like a date?"
"Yeah- I feel terrible leaving you and stuff. I wanna make things official."
