April's POV
June 3, 2018
"Holy cannoli, that's one fine boy." Makayla raises her eyebrow, trying to mock my accent as I duck very quickly. "Mak, shush, I don't want him seeing us. And you have a whole boyfriend, enough!" I chuckle as I hide under the ledge of my windowsill.
"Did cute neighbor boy walk by again?" Cassidy asks walking into my apartment holding a big bag of pretzels and candy from the corner store deli. "Yes and he was totally checking you out as you walked up here!" I say collecting my hair and quickly side braiding it as I'm still on the floor against the window.
Today's Cassidy's birthday, we're going out to this new place that opened up in April, it's like an arcade but with drinks and all you can eat appetizers.
Kate picked it out because she heard cute neighbor boy say he works there Sunday through Thursday.
Sometimes I forget this isn't New York City and people actually try to make friends with the people living around you; so speaking of, this very handsome guy, probably around our age just moved in to Kate and mine's apartment building and the girls and I have noticed he's bought a lot of merchandise from our college...
"Are Shawn and Matt aware of-"
"We heard our names, talk to us." Matthew and Shawn stroll into my place, Kate's got her hoodie up and her tinted sunglasses on as she holds a box of tissues, sniffing.
Someone's definitely catching a cold.
"Hey April," Shawn's beautiful voice lights up the room and I stand up and run into his arms. "I missed you, I didn't know you were home." I smile looking up at him, he bats his eyelashes and kisses my lips softly. "I wanted to surprise you, your hair looks so cute all messy." Shawn engulfs me in his arms again and I take on his scent.
I know I say this all the time but his embrace is always warm, and his big, strong and scary arms seem very protective when wrapped around my frail body. Every single time it feels as if the world around me melts away when I'm squeezing him back and I never want it to ever end.
Just one single touch from him brings out the best in me. It's been an amazing five months.
"Your ladies have a new edition to the building and he keeps complimenting-"
"Not another word," Shawn lets go of holding me and walks to the window where Makayla was pointing down to. "Did he move in while I was away?" Matt asks, no one cares to respond to him because he's moving far away from his sick girlfriend and everyone else is focused on cute neighbor boy. "I'll make you something to eat." I tell Kate and she nods wrapping herself in blankets on the couch.
Makayla and Shawn spy on the kid from the window and I'm just not feeling this whole situation. "Guys, leave him alone, he's chill." I stick up for cute neighbor boy.
"Woah, babe. Have you meet him before?" Shawn asks sternly as he walks over to me. "Yeah, in the laundry room, why?"
"Don't you guys have your own washer and dryer?" Cassidy asks and I scrunch my face, looking away from my significant other. "Yeah, we do." Kate mumbles very loudly, then coughs and now everyone is out here screaming, questioning and exposing my whereabouts.
"I was being followed by that weird guy that lives across the street." Shawn rolls his eyes and throws his hands up in the air, about to interject. "And, yes, we the have bigger apartment so we do have our own area to do our laundry," I continue and I look over at Matthew's amused expression as he's looking at Shawn who's pissed off. "I ran in and saw him doing the laundry and he asked if I was okay and I said 'that creep was following me and I'm not tryna die before my boyfriend gets back home'." I emphasize 'boyfriend' and Shawn calms down.
