Well, the chapter got deleted because I'm an idiot and didn't save it properly and I'm so upset guys. It was actually perfect. I'm so upset so I guess there's not going to be a Valentine's Day chapter for April and Shawn..
just kidding, I'll write it so much better.
Shawn's POV
I was pacing around my entire flat for about a half hour now, in a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. Is she coming? Did she bail on me? Would she ever bail on me?
"Quit it, Shawn." I say, looking at myself from the reflection of the black marble counter top. I ran my fingers through my now long and fluffy hair. Is my outfit alright? Why am I overthinking so much?
I honestly am about to drown myself in a bottle of wine.
Moments after I recollected myself and took a deep breath, examining the dining room table.
I set up a little dinner for her, it's about 9:30 now and I just know that April's going to stroll on into my kitchen, stressed about tests, with an empty stomach all while wearing one of the many adorable Victoria Secrets sweatpants she owns.
And we can't forget about her camera.
April just bought herself this really expensive camera with this little, but quite convenient, tripod for her to take pictures of literally everything in sight. Half of the pictures I have been posting has come from the little photoshoots she has in the back room of her and Kate's place.
She's even made me change my clothes a bunch of times. She's practically doing Josiah's job for him. April's cute though so I'm not complaining. "She likes this, right? She says it's her favorite." I mumble, looking down at the chicken noodle soup she loves from that diner down the road.
I also ordered a panini for her and a burger for myself with curly fries. It's simple but I know she's going to love it.
Ten torturous minutes later I'm looking out the window and see her silver car pull up. April gets out and realizes the weather was literally below freezing and runs up my entryway.
I opened the door and, yet, she still bumps into the wall as she runs in. "You okay?" I ask as she recovers herself and jumps into my arms. I kiss her fruity scented hair and feel her shiver in my arms.
"You don't feel so good?"
"Rough day," she replies and makes her way into the kitchen. "For us?" Her eyes widen as she sees the dinner. "For us." I say wrapping my arms around her from behind and digging my head in her shoulder. "You're adorable." She whispers turning around to kiss my cheek.
"Oh god, let me tell you how many people I've seen kissing and shit! Right in front of me," she talks with her hands and I laugh as her voice gets deep and her accent shows. April takes a seat and opens the hot container of soup.
She smiles as I sit down across from her and I hand her a spoon. "First it was Kate and Matt, they stole our thing," she rolls her eyes and I raise an eyebrow at her. "How could they?" I pretend to be offended, April laughs and then looks over to the sink, makes a look and then continues telling me how she walked into two people kissing in the lecture hall.
I could seriously listen to her talk for hours on end. Even as we did the dishes to some light music in the background. She insisted that I should sing and started complimenting my voice and just sat there with this gaze in her eyes and it melted my heart.
Once we finished cleaning up April ran into my room and hid herself under the covers. "You're tired," I grin down at her and she blushes and sits back up and just falls into my arms.
I held her tightly, our heartbeats were in sync. I just wanted to kiss her, so I lifted up her chin and softly kissed her lips, bringing my hand to rest below her ear as my thumb caressed her cheek. Our breaths mingled, she pulled me closer and now I'm really feeling her heartbeat against mine.
We separated and I looked down as she looked at me. "You're the reason Jack was so mean to me," I look back at April and furrow my eyebrows.
She knows.
April's POV
"April, what? How could you ever think that?" Shawn looks down at me and I could see it in his eyes. "Shawn don't lie to me, I just want to know what I did and why," I choke up and feel my heart break.
His face softens and reaches out for my hand and squeezes it tight. I felt nothing, I looked at him and begged for him to tell me. "Jack wanted to protect you from me, he never wanted his friend to date his sister." He began and I looked down. "So you thought I was some kind of trashy white girl from Brooklyn?" I mutter and he looks at me with big eyes.
"No, I went on with my life and started getting popular on Youtube, it was freshman year, April."
"I transferred in at the end of the year and everyone liked me, the next year it all started going down. I was called names, harassed and put through hell. And where were you? Out of school."
"Your brother had a lot of friends, all of them wanted you when Jack warned them to stay away, they all thought you were different, he talked about you a lot. It drove everyone crazy, myself included. When we realized you were really off limits we started talking about you over the summer." Shawn's voice cracks and I sit there.
"You guys didn't even know me and when I came back in September I was the most known girl in that damn building. But then so were you,"
"I was starting my career and had no idea who you were. So when we met for the first time I didn't know you were related to Jack."
"I was vulnerable back then- so fucking vulnerable." I choke as tears start forming in my eyes. "When we got closer I realized I was the reason why you faked your smile when you entered a room, why Jack gave you a hard time whenever I was there; I remembered the things that were said caused all of this."
"You didn't make any of this happen, Jack did. He went along with it instead of defending me, he chose a reputation over his step sister." I get up from the bed and look at myself in the mirror.
"I changed as a person, I let everything go. I stick up for myself and now I truly know where I'm going in my life and who's going to be there with me, through it all." I look back at Shawn.
He walked up to me slowly and pulled me closer to him wrapping his arms around me. "I guess I'm the beast," he says and I chuckle. "Every beauty needs her beast to protect her from everything but him,"
Shawn's embrace was warm, and his big, strong arms seemed very protective when wrapped around my frail body. The world around me melted away as I squeezed him back, not wanting this moment to end.
This was not how I was expecting it to go but I kinda like it more than the old chapter I wrote.. anyway Happy Valentine's Day 💓
