Chapter 13: A Midnight Walk

Lay's POV

As I laid down on my bed after a day of practicing, I couldn't help but picture her smile in my mind, her laugh. I smiled at the thought of her shyness when she was playing the piano, the way her hair fell over her face. The way her waist felt as I caught her from falling. She was so distant though, unwilling. It was understandable that with what has happened to her family she would be like this but I just want to see her smile.....

JIN'S POV

I couldn't fall asleep, I was trying to think of what had happened with Lay, was it just my imagination or was it what I thought it was. I shook my head I frustration and closed my eyes but all I could see was Lay's smile and the way his dimple appeared when he did. Otoke, what to do, what to do.

I angrily threw my covers back and got up changing into my workout clothes. I tiptoed out of my room past the others listening and trying to hear if any of the guys were still awake or not. As I walked out the front door, I looked at the clock and it was 12 p.m. No one was going to miss me at this time of hour. I walked outside into the cold night air.

I shivered and put on a sweatshirt. Everything seemed pretty silent besides the occasional car passing by. I walked by as the street lamps flickered and glowed. I kept walking into a park and there was little light there, you could barely see 5 feet ahead of you. I went up to a swing set and sat down, listening to the creaking sound; really concerned of whether or not to oil the old chains of the swing as I pumped my legs as I went higher and higher.

I looked up at the night sky and I saw all of the stars twinkling and shining bright, I went until I felt the swing jolt at how close I was to producing a full loop around, I reached out a hand trying to capture a star within the palm of my hand. I pulled it back and I closed my eyes letting the sounds of the night and the smell of the fresh air overwhelm me.

I felt like I could fly, like I was renewed. *crack* I opened my eyes quickly and peered into the darkness. I looked and a figure appeared before me. I let my guard down as I saw a familiar face come to view. I dragged my feet stopping the swing. " What are you doing up so late? Don't you have a photo shoot tomorrow?" I asked. Lay came up closer to me and sat on the swing next to me. "Shouldn't I be asking you that question?" he asked.

He gave me a bemused small smile. I raised my eyebrow. "As far as you're concerned, it's none of your business what I do after work." I said. "Isn't protecting us though a full time job?" he asked me. "Okay, you got me there." I admitted. "But, I can protect myself unlike you, idols should be in bed getting their beauty sleep; no ones going to care if I have dark circles under my eyes." I told him.

He mumbled something but I couldn't pick it up. I heard a car pass by and everything stayed silent again. I pumped my legs back and forth a bit. "It's beautiful out here isn't it." I said. "Yes, I suppose it is." he said. "You suppose?" I asked bewildered. He shrugged at me. It got silent again and the only sound was of the creaky swings moving back and forth. I checked my phone and it read 1:30 AM. I sighed internally.

The only way to get Lay back to the dorms would involve me taking him back. I got up from the swings. "Come on." I said and I motioned my hand for him to follow. "I'm taking you back." He got up but stopped. "You're not going to come back are you?" he asked. I stayed silent. "It's too dangerous to be outside this late." he said insistently. I smirked. "Lay-ssi, I'm pretty sure I can take care of myself, araesso?" I said.

I turned and started to walk but I was held back a bit. Lay had grabbed my arm and his face was inches away from mine. I breathed in sharply. " I know that but don't, jebal, it's better not to risk it." he said. His face was so close to mine. *Badump* *Badump* I could see his perfect flawless skin, the contour of his jawline, the corners of his mouth, and his lips but I couldn't let myself look into his eyes.
