Hello Diary,
I remember feeling soft fur all around me and the smells of the damp forest engulfing my nostrils before I even opened my eyes. I could feel the object beneath me shifting, as if on the move. Was I being carried?... By what?

My eyes shot open and my heart began to race in fear as I saw a wolf in front of me, running alongside the one carrying me on it's back.

"Relax child. We were waiting for you on orders from the King of Angoleth. We are not going to make a meal of you. Besides, dragons taste horrible."

The voice inside my head was stern and confident. I had no idea wolves had abilities like mine. I sighed and relaxed. Cand had sent them to watch for me. I wondered how much he knows of what is going on in the Valley of Fear.

I felt the heaviness of the book under my left wing and smiled to myself. I only hope my father is much more useless without it.

"I can smell the dark magic on you. You better watch yourself, or you will be just as bad as the former king was." The wolf continued as he eyed me suspiciously.

You can smell magic? That's pretty cool. And, you mind speak like me. Wolves are not what I expected. I thought in reply.

"Well, what did you expect?" That had been a female voice. I realized she was behind me, on the other side of my ride.

I wasn't sure what to say. I have only ever read a tiny paragraph about wolves. It only really mentioned their physical attributes and the best way a dragon could kill one.

I guess I do not know. You are the first real wolves I have met in my young life. An honest answer.

The wolf I could see had beautiful silver fur that shimmered as we rushed past the rays of light coming down through the treetops. The way he carried himself, I knew he was in charge, their leader.

Why am I so honored as to have an Alpha escort?

The huge silver wolf eyed me again as we ran. He gave me a faint nod of acceptance for finding him out. He did not speak however and left me to hear the sound of their running and breathing.

We were actually traveling rather quickly. The trees around us seemed like a blur. Suddenly I felt a bit dizzy.

"We can smell dark magic, and that valley behind us is caked in it. Whatever Gaelon is up too over there, it isn't good." That had been the voice of the wolf beneath me. I felt a wisdom about him that reminded me of Cand.

Cand... Who I would see again very soon and then have to explain all of it to. At least I had the black book and myself to offer to the king's services as a sort of peace offering. I knew what spell would protect us all, only I fear I am not yet powerful enough to pull it off... But soon.

Before I knew it, we were rushing out of the cover of trees and into the open light on the Emynn Plains. I had to squint my eyes from the sudden brightness.

The wolves could run fast, faster than I ever expected them to. Still, I knew the dragon Palace was a long way off and I found myself wishing I could fly up into the sky, just to lay my eyes on it.

Instead, I shifted myself on the wolf's back so that I could watch the grassy hills in front of us. I was very careful not to dig my claws into him as he ran. At least his strides were very smooth.

Once adjusted, I could watch for the palace ahead of us, as well as look to either side to admire the two wolves running along side us.

You guys should be careful. Gaelon may be after me. I pissed him off before I ran for it. I somehow felt obligated to let them know of the possible dangers of escorting me.

"The Pegasus had murder in her eyes. She was a little afraid of us, but she went back for help. We have a huge lead on them. Also, wolves can run just as fast as a dragon can fly, it has been proven. As long as we do not stop we will make it before they can catch us." The alpha wolf said proudly.

I nodded and let a small smile spread over my face, despite my aching body. I was going to be home very soon.

It was not too long before I could see the dark shape of the dragon Palace up ahead. I felt my blood start to pulse through my veins in excitement. All my fear was starting to melt away.

I could not ever be afraid of Cand, not after everything I had been through with my father. Especially when I thought he had died, I am not the same dragon as I was before that. It is time I stand my ground and lay down my thoughts.

I am going to stand and tell him what I want, how I want things to go if I am to return and stay. For once in my life I am going to live my life how I desire to.

As the massive palace got closer and closer, I heard a loud dragon roar fill the air around us. It was an announcement for the king that wolves were approaching. I guess they could not see me in all the fur from so far away.

I smiled even wider. I was going to be a surprise for the King. This would be fun.

I tucked myself down to try and blend in with the brown and black fur of the wolf's back. He seemed to not mind my added weight on him, like he was ready for this type of stuff.

I had to remember to do more research on the wolves later on. They are pretty interesting creatures.

(AN: Ruinar is about to show up back at home. What do you guys think the reunion will be like with all his friends? The answers will be in the next chapter. Thanks for reading.)
