Hello Diary,
I am pretty sure I have only been back home for a few days now. I have been filling up my time with lots of reading and absorbing information. Cand brought me two very useful books on basic words in the Ancient Language and I was very happy that he kept his promise.Having so much to study, I was perfectly happy keeping to my own room. I did not leave it's walls since I arrived inside it. Maybe part of me was afraid that if I left the room it would disappear like a bad dream, but of course it wont.
I have had Arod, Almira, or Cand himself bring me meals and conversation. Arod and Cand are preferred, since now I always feel awkward around Almira. I have not yet seen the other two females I care about, the queen and princess.
Since I have been cramming my brain I decided it was time for a break and a walk. I wanted to see the beautiful baby dragon. I bet she has grown a lot since I left.
My own room is not far from the royal chamber, just down the hall. I walked over and stood in front of the closed door. Using my mind, I knew that Eira, Cand, and baby Soraya we're all inside. I could sense that Eira was pacing near the window. The baby was asleep. I debated knocking. They were probably deep in a conversation.
Just before I lifted my paw to knock, the door swung open and Eira emerged. She had a look of worry on her face as she almost ran right over me.
"Good morning, Your Majesty!" I shouted to her in a happy greeting.
Eira froze and looked down at me suddenly. Her blue eyes were sharp as knives as she looked me over. I suddenly realized that she did not feel the same as Cand about my return. I saw that she was not about to forgive my mistakes. I froze in response to her hurtful stare.
My mother hates what I have become. I can see it in her eyes, even if she never says it outright.
"Ruinar?" She finally said after a long moment of frozen glaring.
"I am glad to see you are doing well, my queen. You are looking as beautiful as ever. Being a mother and queen suites you." I said, trying to boost her mood.
She sighed and nodded. "Danger lurks around every corner." She said, then continued on past me. She was obviously on her way somewhere. I was left puzzled by her words. Did she mean me?
The royal chamber door was now open so I went inside. Cand was perched on the bed in a sitting position. His tail was curled in front of him and his sleeping baby was lying across it.
I bowed low to my king, a genuine bow of loyalty. It feels good to have a king you can trust. Cand will be the best king Angoleth has ever seen. I know it.
"Sir... Is everything okay with the queen?" I asked, trying to keep my voice soft so I would not wake the sleeping whelp.
Cand sighed and slowly nodded. He then waved me to come closer, so I did. When he spoke it was like a whisper.
"She will be fine soon, she just does not agree with my decision to make you our adviser. I promise she will come around. I suppose she is a bit angry with me for loosing Kram."
I gulped down my worry and smiled at the sleeping mass on the king's tail. She had at least doubled in size since I last saw her.
"She is the most beautiful dragon I have ever seen, besides the queen of course," I said softly as I moved a little closer to nuzzle the baby on it's cheek.
Cand laughed and was smiling as he watched me.
I started to purr. A dragon can only purr for certain emotions. I am not very accustomed to the vibrations of it. But I could not stop myself. My purr rose up my chest and throat and seemed to fill the entire room with it's rumbling sound.
"Your Majesty! King Cand!"
The screams broke my concentration as well as waking up the sleeping Soraya. Cand snarled in surprise.
I stood my ground right in front of him and the baby, as the source of the screaming came bolting into the room.
Two female dragons came rushing in with panic struck looks on their faces. The first one was a cherry red color with purple chest scales and gold colored wings. Her eyes were golden like the king's, but a shade darker than his.
The other dragon was a dark forest green with brown wings. Her chest scales were a tan color and she had two sword looking spikes at the end of her tail.
They both seemed out of breath and had to catch it as they gave the king a respectful bow. Then the green dragon spoke first.
"My king, we need you in the courtyard right away. It is urgent!"
Cand snorted and shook his head. He and I were both confused it seemed.
The red female nodded and added, "Sir, we have spotted a small group of Pegasus. They are headed right for us. I did not sound the alarm because I did not want the entire Palace going into a panic. That is why we came directly to you."
Cand's eyes went wide in shock. He shifted and placed Soraya down on the bed. He then turned to eye the two females.
"You are sure that is what you saw?"
The red female nodded. She had confidence in her eyes. "Yes sir, I am one of the best spotters. They were definitely not dragons or Thoronians. My eyes are never wrong, nor my mental scans."
Cand growled and turned his gaze toward me. I heard Soraya sneeze and start to play behind him on the bed. It was slightly distracting.
"Are they after the book you stole?" He asked me curiously.
I shrugged but it was either that or they wanted me, and probably dead for what I had done to those three unicorns. I said nothing but he seemed to understand the look of fear I must have flashed in my eyes.
"You will stay here with Soraya. I want her protected at all costs. I know you can protect her, your my adviser." He snarled at me.
I nodded, unsure of what babysitting involved. I had no clue.
He then turned to look at the two females again. "Nerak, you go find the queen and meet us outside. I do not want to sound an alarm unless we know it is an attack."
The green dragon nodded with pride at being recognized by name and then turned to rush away in search of queen Eira.
"Now Tinachris, let's get down there and give them a friendly greeting. Use your ability to tell the other guards not to sound an alarm."
The red female nodded and as Cand started to rush out of the room, she was running right after him. I made a mental note to try and remember every dragon by name. It seemed like the respectful thing to do. As royal adviser it would only seem right to learn who everyone was in our kingdom.
Suddenly I realized, just like that, I was all alone with the little blue whelp for the very first time.
(AN: I finally got a little opportunity to add a couple new dragon characters, so to show my appreciation for my fans Karen threedogsandacat and Christina ChristinaJones105 the new females are you guys :) Nerak is Karen spelled backwards. Tinachris is Chris'tina switched around. I really appreciate you and hope you like your characters. Thank you all for being involved with my story.)
