his cold stare

I walked into the cafeteria with a bit more pace than I started with. simply the thought of coffee made my legs go faster.

there were only several people who you'd normally see in the lunchroom for breakfast. the lack of bodies and loud voices made me prefer the morning than lunch period.

I walked in line, picked up an iced coffee that was probably just plain sugar disguised as coffee, and paid for it in a flash. as I sipped it, a boy walked past me and bumped my shoulder.

he mumbled a "sorry."

I recognized the voice.

simply by pure instinct, I turned and said, "wait!"

my body froze, as did he. I finally saw his face, but my mind was focused on the fact that people were probably staring at me.

my awkward self hung my mouth open slightly.

I kind of wanted to run.

his cold stare was piercing. I felt under so much pressure. I never imagined his looks to be so oddly captivating.

if my friends could've heard my thoughts, they'd tease me for it every second of my life.

and then I noticed.

it made me hold my breath.

his jean jacket had a rip in the cuff.
