it was pretty quiet as we walked. our small talk was nothing special.

well, I mostly was trying to convince myself it wasn't special, to deplete any thoughts of immediate friendship.

I learned to keep my expectations low.

"you lived in boston?" I asked, "and didn't freeze?"

"you start to get tired of wearing five layers, but you adapt eventually," he shrugged, hands gripping his backpack straps.

"I suppose."

"what classes are you taking this year?" he questioned.

I recalled my schedule - my stressful schedule.

"Music theory, AP Psychology, AP Physics-"

"Woah," he interrupted, astonished, "AP Physics?"

I chuckled. anyone in high school would know how fatal taking AP Physics would be.

"I'm...ambitious?" I said, raising my hands up.

changkyun shook his head. "I think you pronounced 'absolutely insane' wrong."

I laughed, but apparently so did two other distant people. we turned our heads to the playground we nearly passed by.

I really wished we had passed by.

Yoo Kihyun, who can actually be humorous if he tries, but would much rather laugh at someone else's humor.

it's refreshing, as he would describe.
