...Six Years Later, Year 12016 AS...

It's been six years since that day. I'm sixteen now and I only have a year before my fate is sealed. My MMP has gone up to 42, but miraculously my sister's hasn't changed. I'm not over losing Brenden and Morris, but since Evelyn is getting closer to the prime reaping age of 11, I have more to worry about than lost friends. It's the same as when I lost my father. It took time but now it doesn't hurt. Well, as long as I don't think about it, which I don't have time to do.

My eyes open and my light stares back at me. I sit up and look around my bedroom. It's plain with nothing to identify it as mine. A simple bed, simple wall color, no decorations. It definitely doesn't look like a teenager's room.

I slip my feet over the edge of the bed. I wobble as I attempt to stand up, but succeed and stretch out the exhaustion. I cross the room to my closet and get dressed for the day. It's Monday, so I put on a beige t-shirt, blue jeggings, a hoodie, and my favorite watch. Pulling on my socks on and lacing my black and white converses, I head to the bathroom and brush my waist-length dirty blonde hair, pulling it back into a messy bun. I brush my teeth and put my deodorant on, finally ready for school.

I grab my backpack and schoolwork as I leave the room. I cross the hall an check my watch. It's 6:45. Time to wake Evie up. I open her door and walk into her room, smiling. Her room is splattered with splotches of pink and purple and blue and every other color all over her walls. She has stuffed animals strewn everywhere and clothes all over the floor.

"Evelyn, it's time to wake up," I say gently as I shake her awake.

"No sissy, I want to see daddy. Please?" she mutters. I sigh. Of course, she wants us to be a happy family. I wish the same thing. It's just not possible in the world we live in. I hope that someday she can experience true happiness.

I shake her harder this time. "Evelyn you have to get up."

"Fine sissy," she yawns. Her bright blue eyes open and she looks at me. "I love you, Lily."

"I love you too Evie," I almost cry as I give her a big hug. It's the best feeling in the world and I don't know what I'd do without her. I can't lose her. She's my everything.

She gets up and puts a tutu on with a bright pink t-shirt. She laces up knee high sparkly boots and wears flower bracelets on each hand. She comes over and puts deodorant on while I do her hair. I twirl and twist and braid it until it's in an intricate French braid.

I finish and she gets up and grabs her backpack with all her schoolwork.

I'm about to chastise her for not brushing her teeth when she asks me in the cutest manner, "Sissy, can I please have some breakfast?"

I know I can't say no to that adorable face so I nod. We head into the kitchen and she makes a piece of toast while I quick scramble some eggs. She chows down on her food as quick as a bunny rabbit and downs a glass of orange juice. Her smile afterward is so lovable that I'm so glad she had breakfast. I glance at my watch and see that it's 7:02.

"Evie, since you're ready for school, do you wanna play with some toys or watch a short movie? I have to go wake mommy up and then we'll walk to school together."

She looks sad but nods and heads into the living room. Dad had also collected seasons of tv shows as well as movies. Her favorites were one about ladybug and cat superheroes and about talking, magical, colorful ponies. She presses plays and I smile.
