Trace outstretches his hands towards me, and I grab it.
We walk to the side door of the electral, and he slides it open, revealing the capital.
It's a gigantic city with skyscrapers, and I can barely see the sky. There's people moving everywhere, and even though it's midday, the city is alight like fireflies.
We step onto the platform, which is much nicer than the one back in Warcaster, and I see so many people. I've never seen so many people. And this is where Kyler grew up? I should've asked him more questions.
I notice a few Reapers nearby, and tense up, but they're laughing and don't even notice us.
I look at Trace. He definitely looks stressed.
Trace guides us off the platform, and we step onto the sidewalk. We walk along the sidewalk for a few seconds until he comes upon a pole with a box on top. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but he taps it and one side of the box lights up. He drags his finger across it and taps it a few times, and then he steps back.
He glances at me and laughs a little, "This is really foreign to you, isn't it?"
I nod.
"Well, that was what we call a vanice. Basically high ranking officials, nobles, and royals can use that box to order things. I called us a car, which will take us to the palace. It should be here any second," Trace explains.
"Hmm...That's really cool," I say.
A black limo rolls up, and stops right in front of us. People crowd around us to see why the limousine is there. Trace ignores them and guides me into the limo. Inside is very elegant and spacious, and we sit down on the couches lining the walls. Near what I assume is the front of the car a window opens, and a man peers at us.
He speaks, "Prince Trace, where would you like us to take you?"
"The Palace, please," Trace replies and the man nods, shutting the window.
The limo starts to move. Trace and I don't really talk, mostly because I can feel the tension in the air. This is making him really nervous. I mean, there are rumors that he's a rebel, but I don't know if he's actually ever done anything outright rebellious.
"Trace, thanks. I'm so lucky to have a friend like you," I say, trying to comfort him, though there is an undertone of fear in my voice.
He gently rubs my hair, and leans into me.
"I should be thanking you. You've given me the courage to do things that I never would've felt bold enough to do before. I'm honored to have a friend like you," he murmurs.
"Hey Trace, do you have a lot of pull with Lyria, er Lapide?" I say, suddenly thinking of Haimon. I'm not entirely sure why, but I want someone to know about Haimon.
He sits up and looks at my eyes, "Why?"
"Well, there's this Zoren noble, Haimon Eos. And he wants to marry Princess Jo Najaah of Lyr...Lapide. I was just wondering if maybe you could help him. They really love each other..." I answer.
"I don't really have that much sway, but I can try. Why is this so important to you?"
I sigh, "Can I tell you a secret?"
He raises his eyebrow and nods.
"You see, Haimon is really my brother. Er, Evelyn's brother. He's, well, he's my parent's son," I ramble, not exactly sure how to explain it.
"So, he's really a Morgan?" Trace supplies, saying it so much simpler.
"Yeah. His real name is Jackson Morgan. I guess I just wanted someone to know the truth. But I don't know if he should be told, because it could ruin his already slim chance with the woman he loves. I don't know..." I stumble, and look at Trace.
