...Twelve Days Later...
It's been twelve days since Kyler had moved to town. Today is Saturday. Over the past little bit, Kyler, Conner, Cameron and I have become really come close. We've gotten some information, but it's proven to be really difficult. I guess the sisters don't want us to know their story. I'm nervous because today is Blissfest. It's going to be different this time, now that I have friends again. I don't want to lose anyone again.
I breathe. Everything will be fine. I roll out of bed and pull on a hoodie and sweatpants. Why do I have to dress up? It's just the royal guard. No big deal. I brush my blonde hair and watch it fall down to my waist. I've always wanted to dye it or shave the side, but no one knows how to do that thing in this small town. Just the annual regulation haircut. I've always wanted to go to the capital and try something new.
I finish getting ready and put on some socks. I make my bed and make sure everything is where it belongs. I yawn, open the door, and head into the main area, shutting the door behind me. Kyler is already up, making breakfast. My sister and mom are still in their PJs, but Kyler is already dressed. He smiles. He's barely been here and yet I can't imagine doing this without him.
"Good Morning Lily. Do you want some breakfast? I made bacon, eggs, and toast. There's also some orange juice."
I nodded. "Orange juice and bacon are my favorite. How did you know?"
He smirks. "That's my favorite too. Stop stealing my ideas."
I chuckle. "You sound just like Evie."
Evie turns red. "I don't sound like that Lily."
"Yes, you do. You yell when you learn that one person has the same name as another person. 'That lady stole my friend's name. How dare she?' You're hilarious," I note.
She shakes her head.
Mom smiles and speaks up. "Girls, stop fighting."
We giggle and nod. It's been six years since Mom's been like this.
"Thank you, Kyler," I say.
He looks at me in confusion.
"You've made this family much happier in just the short time you've been here. I can't thank you enough."
Mom and Evie nod.
Kyler smiles. "Thanks. But you guys just needed some hope. And bacon. No one can be sad when there's bacon around."
We grab our breakfast and sit in the living room, turning another old movie on. This one is a musical, about the rise of the circus, a relic of a time forgotten. It's my favorite movie of all time.
The day goes by quickly. We laugh and talk and I can almost forget our terrible world.
Then the doorbell rings. I sigh and tell Kyler to turn off the second movie. Mom goes and gets the front door. By now, Mom and Evie are dressed, but in lounge clothes, like me and Kyler.
The guards walk in.
"Ma'am, do you have any wishcasters in your home?" Marcos Raimond, the head guard says.
