I lay down on the soft grass; waving gently in the breeze. The sun beamed down upon me, soothing the chill in my heart and melting the tension from my limbs. I heard a small scuffle and turned my head sideways, squinting slightly through the bright light. I made out a grinning face. "Hey Derp." "Hi Ssundee. So, what brings you out here?" I sighed, turning my head back to gaze up at the azure hue of the sky above us. "I needed to get away from people. It's just too..." I paused searching for the right word. "Frightening. They look up to us Derp...I'm scared I'm gonna let them down." "You'll be fine Ssundee." I smiled. "Hey." Derp turned to me. "What?" I grinned, and began to sing quietly.

Strike up the band, let's start a fire
Put up your hands, show your desire
If you want this, don't hold back.

I saw Derp start to smile slowly.

Asked you to stand like one of the choir
Lift up your voice, build it up higher
In this moment, don't look back.

I stood up, closing my eyes and letting the sun wash over my face.

Tonight, our arms are opened wide

Derp started to sing too. His voice sounded dreadful, but together our voices became a harmony.

I don't want to be anywhere else

I started to walk through the tall grasses, towards the crystal blue glimmer of the lake.

I reached the water, gazing into its dark depths. I felt something brush against me and I knew Derp had followed me. I turned to him.

A million eyes stare into space
Not you and I, we're face to face
I don't want to be anywhere else but here

Turn the whole world upside down, let's pour it out
Let's all reach for higher ground, while we're looking down

Strike up the band, let's start a fire
Put up your hands, show your desire
If you want this, don't hold back

It seemed like the rest of the world stood still while our voices echoed around the empty space.

A million eyes stare into space

When we'd finished I saw Derp's eyes were brimming with tears. "You remembered..." I smiled. "Yes. My mother used to sing that to me as a lullaby..." I hugged him and rested my head gently on his shoulder, closing my eyes. "I-I love you Ssundee..." I felt a small smile slowly spread across my face; felt the warmth of the sun on my back, sinking into me. "I love you too Derp. More than anything..."
