Chapter 8, Michelle's POV:
The moment I saw their lips together, I had no instinct but to go to the park about two blocks away. I wasn't crying, sad, or upset. We're not together and I'm not sure if I even have feelings for him, I'm not feeling the sting of pain anymore. I take a seat on a swing and gently go back and forth. Footsteps come from behind and I already know it's Josh.
"Hey." Josh asks tense as he takes a seat on the swing next to me.
"Hey." I smile.
"I'm sorry that you had to see that."
"It's fine, you're not mine so I don't see why you're apologizing, I should be. I walked into the room without any permission." I smile back. This isn't even hurting me yet I was a wreck the day before.
Surprised, he asks, "So you're okay with it?"
"Of course I am. I have no control of you, you don't have to please me."
"Well then. What do you wanna do?" He asks.
"Let's get ice cream at Pete's." I suggest.
"Let's go, I want his chocolate deluxe birthday cake." He laughs.
"I know you do!"
We walk along two of four blocks to the ice cream parlor and Josh changes the topic.
"You know, I missed you. I never should have let distance get between our friendship."
"Why do you bring that up all the time? You act like I tried to keep in touch but you didn't, and I hate that."
"But you tried and I got caught up with the movies, girls, friends, and paradise I was living in but didn't bring you along."
"Well when you put it like that…"
When we get to the ice cream shop, we order and decide to walk back to his house and eat it on the way since it's sun down and his mom wants to go out for dinner.
"Hey Michelle." I greet myself back in the house.
"Hey mom." Josh greets.
"Hey you two, baby girl, you might wanna get in the shower if you don't want the boys taking so long. Connor and Chris will be here in 30 minutes so you can take your time getting ready." She smiles at me as I head up to the guest room and shower.
When I head out of the shower in shorts and a baggy shirt, Connor and Chris are here so I welcome them as they do as well.
I use a wave styling hair tool and pull the front layers and clip them as my bangs lay straight on my face. My outfit consists of black skinny jeans, white crochet TOMS, and a gray tank topped with a jean jacket. My make up is fairly simple; concealer, eyeliner, and mascara. Simple yet elegant.
I walk out of the room and meet with Michelle in the kitchen waiting for the boys to come down.
"Ready you two?" Chris asks. "Michelle, you've grown into a beautiful young lady. Congratulations on your graduation, we're proud of you."
"Thanks Chris, it means a lot." I smile.
As Connor walks down the stairs he runs to give me a hug as if I didn't give him one already.
"My God, you're getting taller than me!" I shriek.
"I know, right? Maybe you should start wearing heels again." He jokes.
"Thanks Con Con." I joke and snap in a z formation.
When Josh comes down, he immediately takes the chance of an empty kitchen to hug me close and play with my hair.
"What was that for?" I ask, giggling.
"I like your long hair. You look beautiful tonight too, Elle."
"You look good too, Joshua." I say as I make him spin around to get a full view of his outfit.
"Let's go, my dear?" He asks as he reaches for my hand.
Tonight wil be a good night, let's hope we don't run into something else now. But I have a feeling we will and I was right, I knew I was right when I saw him at the restaurant.
