Chapter 19

In time, me and Claire started getting closer just like we were before. We never talked about the mafia thing and I don't intend to. Since i kinda isolated myself, I'm doing much better at college. Me and Claire just finished our classes

"Claire, have you talked to Will?" I hope it's not still a sensitive subject

"Um actually i did. We talked for a long time and then we had sex and now we're back together" she couldn't stop smiling

"That's wonderful! I am so happy for the both of you" i hugged her tightly but my smile dropped when i saw Alec next to his car in the parking lot. I bet Claire saw his as well cause she was uneasy

"Wha-what about you? Have you talked to Xander?" She asked hesitantly

"No. And i don't want to." But he started walking towards us. He stopped in front of us

"Hi Claire. Hello Aurora" he said 'nicely'

"Hi Xander!" Claire greeted him back but i just raised my eyebrow

"Look, Aurora, i know you don't want to talk to me or be around me and i respect that, but your father asked me to bring you along when I'm taking him and your mom from the airport today" what??? My parents are coming here?! "From the look of surprise on your face i bet they didn't tell you"

"I haven't talked to my father. Just with my mom and she didn't say anything" i took a deep breath "I'll come with you"

I said my goodbyes to Claire and got in the car with that- i don't even know how to call him. I'd call him a monster, but then I'd offend myself because i had feelings for him. I think I'm gonna have a migraine

"Seatbelt." He said

"What?" I asked confused

"Put your seatbelt on" he repeated

"Oh, ok" i did as i was told. The ride was long and unpleasant. We stood in silence for the most of it but at some point he started talking

"I'm sorry, you know? I could have put everything in a nicer way. And about how i acted with Will. But he kind of deserved it, but you didn't. I'm sorry if you feel uncomfortable right now, i just wanted you to know." I just nodded. He's not really good at apologises put i appreciate the effort.

"How long are my parents staying?" I asked slowly

"Until after Christmas. Don't be mad at your dad for the way i explained everything, please"

"That's not why I'm mad at him. He killed people" i answered lowly

"It's in the past, Aurora. He gave it all up for you and because he wanted to be a better man-"

"Please, stop. Just don't" i shook my head and looked out the window. I didn't even realise we stopped until my door was opened by Alec. He extended his hand to help me out but i didn't take it. We waited at the airport for half an hour until my parents arrived. My father seemed hesitant at first but once i smiled at him he hugged me really tight. No matter what he did or does, he's still my father and i love him more than i love myself. I hugged my mother as well and she started crying. She's amazing and the kindest human being I've ever known.

On the ride back home my father and Alec stood in the front and me and my mom stood in the back. My mom kept asking me about college and if I have a boyfriend. I don't know why but everytime she did, Alec was gripping the steering wheel like his life depended on it. His knuckles were so white i thought they were going to explode.

"Mom, i told you, I don't have a boyfriend and I'm not in love with anyone!" I said having enough of her stressing me about this

"Ok, ok. No need to be like this" she said

"I'm sorry, mom" i said feeling bad

"It's ok, honey". We got home and me and mom prepared dinner for everyone and i convinced my dad to let me invite Claire and Will as well. The whole dinner everyone was very tense but the wine kind of relaxed everyone.
