"Why did you do it?"
"I'm sorry, Hana."
"I was so scared."
"I know."***
Yoongi leaned backed in his chair, long, slender fingers tapping against the arms of it to a rhythm he had stuck in his head all day. Perhaps he could use it for a song, in the future.
Hoseok swore he was only going to be gone for a minute, but it had been almost half an hour. However, Yoongi knew Hoseok wanted to speak his mother alone, so he stayed put in the hospital room.
When the door creaked open, he was relieved. Yoongi sat upright, stretching his arms over his head.
"About time."
"Excuse me?" A delicately feminine voice answered back.
Yoongi turned to the door to discover a girl standing there instead of Hoseok. Her hair was pitch black, her eyes dark, and her skin almost snow white. If he believed in such things, he might have thought she was a ghost.
"Ya. Who are you?"
"Where is the boy who was staying in this room?" She asked, deliberately ignoring his question. Yoongi leaned back again, folding his arms over his chest.
"You mean Hoseok?" She answered this time with a timid nod. Yoongi was glad, at least, she didn't ignore him again. "He's speaking with his mother. He'll be back soon. Why?"
"Can I wait for him here?" She deflected his question again with one of her own, and he frowned.
"That depends."
"On?"
"Who you are," he huffed. "We can't just let fans come in and--"
"I'm not a fan," she cut him off before he could finish what he was saying. The girl entered the room and closed the door behind her. Yoongi stood up from the chair.
"Who are you then? Why are you looking for Hoseok?"
"Be quiet," she urged in a hushed tone. Yoongi was about to scold her for being so rude to someone older than her, but before he could, the door swung open again. The girl quickly ducked low behind it, out of view.
"Have you seen a girl come by?" A pretty nurse asked. Yoongi glanced at the door, then back to the nurse. He wondered why the deathly pale girl would be hiding from the doctors and nurses.
It would have been simple to tell the nurse the truth and have the girl dragged out of their room, but he hasn't gotten a chance to scold her yet.
"No. I'm sorry," he lied.
"Thank you. Please tell us if you see an American girl wandering around." She bowed slightly, then left the room, shutting the door again to reveal the girl sitting with her back against the wall and her knees hugged against her chest.
"Why are you hiding?" Yoongi asked bluntly once the nurse was gone. The girl just stared at him for a moment with her unnervingly dark eyes.
"How long will he be gone?" She pushed herself up from the floor, but Yoongi noticed her start to sway.
"Ya," he grimaced. "You should let the doctors help you." She staggered forwards, but it was obvious she wasn't going to be able to stay on her feet. "Ya!"
Yoongi rushed forward in just enough time to catch her by her arm before she hit the ground. He shifted her weight, so that he could slid one arm under her back, then bent down to slide the other under her knees.
The door opened again, and Yoongi glanced up to see Hoseok hobbling into room on his crutch.
"Winter?"
