"They're going to move her somewhere. You need to find out where."
"I've already done my job, Mr. Cary."
"Then I'll pay more. We're so close. Help me find her. I won't let her get away from me this time."***
Winter set her bag down on the end of the queen sized bed that sat in the center of the room. There was a distinct emptiness to that hotel room that made her uncomfortable.
"It's just for a little while," Jin spoke behind her. Winter sucked in a breath, then turned around to smile at him half-heartedly.
"I know." Winter knew they had little choice in the matter. Since her father knew where the dorm was, Winter had to be moved somewhere safe.
She just hated that it meant she would be away from the home she had come to love. The only silver lining was that Jin and Hoseok were going to take turns staying with her.
"We promised to protect you," Jin reminded her, stepping closer until he could cup her small face in his hands. He tilted it upwards so he could hold her gaze. "This is the only way to do it unfortunately. For now."
"I hate that you all have to get involved," Winter frowned. "Going to the police should be my job, not Namjoon's."
"Looking after you became our job the moment Hoseok brought you home," Jin smiled gently, brushing his thumbs over her pale cheeks.
There was a darkness under her already pitch black eyes. It was more than obvious that she had not been sleeping, and that she was constantly afraid. Jin wanted to put an end to it as soon as possible.
"We will take care of you. Have faith in us, Winter. Namjoon and Yoongi are going to fix things." Jin leaned down to touch his lips to hers softly, to kiss her as tenderly as possible.
Winter pulled away after a moment to wrap her arms around his waist. She laid her head against his ribs and clung to him tightly.
"I love you, Jin," she muttered against his shirt, burying her face there.
Jin could have cried, too, in that moment. To hear her say such a thing brought a happiness to him that he hadn't known before Winter.
Saranghae.
"I love you, too," he said and held her close.
***
Jin was watching videos with Winter on her phone when there came a knock at the door. He got up from the bed, then walked over to peer out at who might be there.
Fortunately, it was Yoongi.
Jin pulled the door open to let him in, then walked back to sit on the edge of the bed by Winter's legs.
"I didn't know you were coming," Winter grinned at Yoongi, sitting upright and setting her phone on the bed beside her. He shrugged,
"Namjoon was a little worried that one of us wasn't going to be enough."
"Ya," Jin scoffed. "I am just as capable of protecting her as anyone else. Why is Namjoon so worried? Doesn't he have faith in me?"
"It's okay," Winter giggled, crawling closer to Jin to sit behind him and wrap her arms around his waist. She rested her chin on his broad shoulder. "Namjoon probably just wanted alone time with Hana."
