"I'm trying to find her now."
"Remind me what I'm paying you for?"
"Mr. Cary. I located her once for you, and you chased her away."
"Well, find her again! I'm paying you to do your job, aren't I?"
"Yes, sir."***
When Winter came to life, her hand immediately reached out to find Hoseok. She only really stirred when her fingerd felt nothing but empty mattress beside her. Her eyes fluttered open then.
As she tried to sit up, the dull ache in her hips and legs suddenly hit her. Winter flopped back down with a soft groan, bringing a hand up to rub the sleep from her tired eyes.
She really hadn't expected to be so sore. It wasn't so bad the morning after she was with Jin. Then again, Jin was much gentler with her than Hoseok was.
The door opened slowly, and Winter completely expected it to be Hoseok. She didn't even bother to cover her mostly exposed chest that was covered only by her favorite pretty white bra.
Jin entered the room instead, carrying a glass of water in one hand and a bottle of medicine in the other.
Winter's cheeks flushed instantly, her cheeks reddening with shame and guilt. Despite the aching in her body, she pushed herself upright. Her fingers curled into her palm, clutching the sheet against her chest.
"Take some," Jin told her, setting the water and the medicine down on the nightstand beside the bed. He moved to sit on the edge of the mattress next to her, eyes scanning over her inquisitively.
"Jin, I--"
"I figured you'd be in pain," he interrupted her, dropping his head. Winter noticed his hands fidgeting in his lap anxiously. "I know... I knew he wouldn't be careful with you."
Winter wasn't sure what to say. There wasn't much she could say considering the circumstances. There was no hiding what she had done with Hoseok, nor were there any excuses to make.
"You have to take some medicine," he insisted again, this time picking up the bottle to open it himself. Winter watched him with a pained expression as he handed her the medicine and glass of water, which she accepted gratefully.
After popping the pills into her mouth, she used the water to wash them down. Winter set the glass on the nightstand.
"I can't..." she began, then trailed off. How could she explain her feelings without sounding like an easy woman? She shifted nervously. "I can't tell you I don't care about Hoseok."
"I know. He told me," Jin took a deep breath. "We talked about everything already. I scolded him for being so rough with you when your shoulder still isn't healed properly."
"That... wasn't his fault."
"I know," Jin said again, turning to meet her gaze momentarily. "He explained that to me, too."
Her cheeks burned in embarrassment. She really wished Hoseok hadn't been so brutally honest with Jin about everything. She couldn't blame him, though, if he was being scolded over it.
"I'm sorry, Jin," she nearly whispered.
"Is what he said true?" He asked, turning his whole body so that he was facing her. She looked at him, eyes blank with confusion. "Did you tell him you love me?" Jin clarified.
"It's true," she nodded. "I told him that, and I meant it." She didn't want it to be true, but it was impossible to deny her feelings anymore.
Winter was a little surprised when he slid closer to her, bringing a hand up to lay it against her heated cheek. She was even more shocked when he leaned in to press a soft kiss to her lips.
