"Don't be mad at them, Winnie."
"I didn't want them to know, Hana."
"It's my fault. I told them."
"They asked you to tell them. They called you first."

Jin pulled his black mask away from his mouth, tugging it loose to set to the side. He watched closely as Winter ventured into the hotel room, heading straight for the window to peel back the curtains.

"They mean well, Winter," Jin sighed softly. "You should just come back home with me. You don't need a hotel room."

"You can go back," she told him, not turning away from the view outside the window. Her hand rested against the glass. "I don't want to."

"What was it that you were so afraid of us finding out?" Jin asked, moving further into the room. He leaned against the window sill beside her.

He hated when her eyes turned dark, so dark that they became almost entirely black. It never meant anything good.

"I'm not afraid," she insisted, finally turning to look up at him. "I liked that none of you knew who I used to be, and you didn't know why I changed. I wanted it to stay that way."

"Why is it so important to you that we don't know?" Jin pushed. Winter stared at him in silence for a moment, like she was contemplating on whether she wanted to tell him everything or tell him nothing.

"Ask them," she finally decided. "I'm sure they know everything now. I don't want to talk about it. If you really want to know so bad, then go talk to them." Her head turned to once again fixate her gaze on the cityscape outside the window.

Jin noticed her nails scratch against the wooden window sill, chipping at the paint in a nervous gesture, and her bottom lip fell victim to her teeth as it usually did when she was thinking deeply.

She had been pushed too far, Jin decided. It was time for him to let her live in her preferred state of mystery for a little while longer. He could give her that at the very least.

"No," he shook his head. "I'm sure they'll tell me tomorrow. I don't need to know tonight." Winter glanced over at him, and her eyes lightened ever so slightly. "Just tell me what you want to do tonight. We can go home tomorrow and deal with everything together then."

"Let's watch movies," she smiled a little. "Just stay with me tonight, and I promise I'll go back with you tomorrow."

"Okay. Deal."

Winter was more than happy to climb into the king sized bed in the center of the room. She used the remote to click on the T.V., and they stopped on the first channel with a movie playing.

It was a movie Jin had already seen. He wasn't too interested, but it was entertaining to watch Winter stare at the screen in wide-eyed wonder.

T.V. movies weren't enough to satisfy her for long. She ended up playing some of her favorite American music on her phone, most of which Jin had never heard before, not that he minded it either way.

Winter was making her own fun, and he was enjoying it just as much as she was. There was nothing more pleasant than her smile, or the way her eyes lightened to a chocolate color when she was happy.

"Oh, I love this song," she beamed when a particular slow, sultry song started playing.

Jin couldn't stop the blush from blooming against his cheeks as she lifted herself from the mattress and began dancing.
