"Don't worry, Mom. I'm safe now. I'm in a good place. I have people that protect me just like you used to. I just wish I had known then, so I couldve thanked you and maybe helped you. I'm so sorry no one helped you."

Namjoon stirred in the middle of the night when he rolled over and grasped at air. He was positive Winter had been there when he fell asleep.
He sat up on his elbow, rubbing his tired eyes in am attempt to clear them of the haze of sleep. Jin was still sleeping peacefully, Winter's pink dolphin plush pressed into his chest. It was almost comical. Namjoon would have laughed if he didn't realize that meant Winter was gone again.
With surprising grace for a man half asleep, Namjoon slipped out of the bed, reaching for the nearest tee shirt to throw on over his head.
The hallway was dark outside of Jin's bedroom. Namjoon looked around for a minute before venturing into the kitchen, hoping she was there.
It was just as dark and empty as the rest of the dorm, excluding bedrooms. There was a low rumbling thunder that caught his attention. Namjoon had every intention to check all of the rooms for Winter, especially Hoseok's, but he was distracted by the sound of rain.
Peering out of the living room window, he noticed the sky was beginning to turn light blue, though the clouds in the sky cast a grey hue over everything.
Through the droplets of water sliding down the glass, he made out a figure on the sidewalk below. He may not have realized it was her if it wasn't for the dirty purple converse on her feet.
"Damn," he cursed under his breath, hurrying to the door to grab an umbrella. He yanked open the front door and ran down the steps.
Namjoon opened the umbrella as he stepped out into the rain, approaching the spot where Winter's drenched form sat casually on the sidewalk. He rushed the get the umbrella over her.
"Ya, what are you doing?!" He scolded, eyebrows furrowed. "You'll catch your death out here."
Winter looked up at him, her bangs dropping rain down her cheeks. Namjoon found himself becoming a little too fascinated with the way the droplets traced her lips and dripped down her neck.
"Come inside," he demanded, frowning at how she was obviously shivering. Her lips couldn't hide their trembling for long.
"When I was little, my mom used to take me out to play in the rain. We'd lay in the grass until it stopped." She turned her gaze back to the road, to the dim light of the streetlamps which would soon be relieved of their duty by the sun.
"You'll get sick, Winter. Come inside." He chose to relay his command in English this time, her native tongue.
"But the rain hasn't stopped."
"Winter," he said a little more desperate than before. He hated to take her away from something she loved to do once with her mother, but he also couldn't stand to watch her shiver her way into a flu. "Come inside."
She pushed herself up from the sidewalk, dusting off her legs and feet. Her arms lifted to hug her upper body tightly. Winter let out a long sigh then turned towards Namjoon.
"Okay, oppa." Winter knew well enough it was better not to make Namjoon angry. She didn't like the way his jaw tensed or his eyes darkened when she made him mad. She liked his dimples much better.
