Alone Time.

When I woke up in the morning, I felt just as bad as I had the day before.

I didn't want to get up and face everyone, but I knew I'd only feel worse if I didn't, so I climbed out of bed before I could change my mind and went into the bathroom to have a shower.

When I got out of the shower, I got dressed in a black Evanescence vest top, black ripped skinny jeans and a pair of black converse sneakers.

I curled my hair, leaving it down, with my fringe sweeping down over my forehead and part of my eyes like it always did.

I swiped on some black eyeliner, mascara and a little bit of strawberry chapstick then I sprayed on some vanilla scented perfume before I made my way downstairs to have some breakfast.

When I walked into the kitchen, I was surprised to find Riley sitting at the counter on his own, no one else in sight.

I frowned as I walked over to him, sitting down across from him and he looked up at me.

"Where is everyone?" I asked curiously.

"They all went out. I told them we're hanging out together today." He said, then took a sip of a can of coke that was on the counter in front of him.

I frowned, my heart speeding up at this new information.

Riley and me. Spending the day together. Alone.

This couldn't end well.

I got up and grabbed a can of coke for myself out of the fridge before sitting back down at the counter, facing him.

"So, what are we doing today?" I asked, figuring it would actually be nice to hang out with him, like we used to, even though I felt overwhelmed with intense, complicated feelings for him all the time.

He pursed his lips slightly, looking like he was thinking.

"Well, I was thinking we could play some video games, then we could make ice cream sundaes, then to finish up, I thought we could look at some more of our songs and see what we can use." He suggested, sounding a little excited.

I couldn't help but smile, because that sounded like the perfect day.

And it made it even more perfect that I was going to be spending it with Riley.

I watched Riley scan the video game cases in the cabinet next to the TV from where I sat on the sofa a few feet away.

As he moved from side to side slightly, I could see his t-shirt straining against his muscles, his arm and back muscles flexing with every movement and I just wanted to reach out and run my hands across them.

I quickly snapped out of it as he grabbed one of the cases, slid it out and walked over to where the console was sitting on the shelf underneath the TV.

He put the game inside, then grabbed two controllers before walking back over to me and sitting down on the sofa beside me, and I mean, right beside me.

Our legs and arms were pressed together because of how close to me he was sitting and I felt my heart beat wildly in my chest, making my breathing heavier.

I tried to ignore his proximity as the game title screen flashed on the TV, announcing that the game was called 'Mario Kart.'

I couldn't help but smile, because Mario Kart was one of my favourite games.
