Dipper carried Alice over to the abandoned shed. The wind was blowing in all directions, the snow with it. The cold air, the weight of Alice, the night sky, and the blinking of the hazard lights on the totaled car, gave Dipper a unnervingly lethargic feeling; he stumbled upon re-entering the turf from the other side of the street but regained balance.
"I can get down."
"No, it's fine." Dipper stuttered, shivering.
They got to the shed, the door was locked, poorly. Dipper slammed into it a few times before it opened. The two got in and Dipper fought against the wind to shut the door. Beside the door was a desk with a mounted rifle rack on the top. He pushed it in front of the door to make sure it wouldn't open. Alice was laid on the ground prior to Dipper's struggle against the elements. Dipper noticed she was still in fetal position, shivering. Although Dipper was able to manage to get the door shut, it didn't immediately improve the temperature situation. After heavy protests on her end, Dipper laid his winter jacket on Alice's body.
"Dipper, you don't have to, I'm fine."
Dipper didn't answer, in part because he knew he wasn't going to win an argument against her, the other because now he was freezing, to cold to even talk.
Dipper began looking for anything in the cabin. Tools, supplies, food, anything. He shuffled through the drawers of the desk with the rack. The bottom most drawer, the largest one, was the last to be opened. In it was a clean, wool blanket with a camouflage pattern. He unfolded it and, almost immediately, cast it upon Alice. He picked his coat up and struggled to put it back on.
"It's big enough." Alice implied.
Dipper hesitated.
Alice held a warm, welcoming smile that almost made the cold dissipate if it were not for the rest of Dipper's body freezing beyond any philosophical comprehension.
Dipper sat down with Alice, she outstretched the other end of the thick blanket. They both sat, speechless, on the floor; huddled together for warmth.
"So are you going to tell me why you've been alive for the past two years or am I going to have to ask?" Dipper turned to face Alice.
Alice turned to face Dipper, making him look awkwardly at her.
"It's not that easy to explain, but here I am nevertheless." She responded.
"And you didn't tell me!"
"You were already living a good life without me in it to mess stuff up. " Alice shook her head.
Dipper let out an audible sigh, "You're... you're so difficult, you know. Jeez, I..." Dipper was cut off. Alice's lips were tightly pressed against his. He was surprised at first, then he kissed back.
"I wanted to be with you, I wanted to thank you so much," she was wiping tears from her eyes. "Even if you and Pacifica were going to stay together, I still wanted someone to talk to. Though it seemed that I ruined everything I touched. I'm sorry, I just." Dipper hugged her, tightly.
"No! Don't be. This is my fault, I should've seen through Pacifica's true wickedness, all this time, my ignorance of the situation has gotten everyone I know, everyone I love nearly killed. So don't assign blame to yourself, it's my fault too." Dipper said, nearly crying as well.
The two broke off.
"The important thing is that I found you, that's all that matters." Dipper said.
Alice smiled.
He checked his phone. It was 12:00 am.
"Well Merry Christmas, I guess." Dipper said.
"Merry Christmas!" Alice smiled.
