4 - He Was There?

Just like before, you two didn't speak to each other. However, Raph reached the surface before you did.

When you got up, he'd just disappeared.

Did he just...abandon me?

You shrugged, trying hard not to care. It wasn't like you could really do anything about it. Still, you felt a little hurt that he couldn't even stand to be near you even when he was supposed to be protecting you.

"Um, excuse me, sir?" You tapped a random man on the shoulder. "Do you know where I can get pizza?"

He turned around. "Yeah, follow me."

He led you to a pizza store. You thanked him and went in, got a pizza, and came out.

You went back to the sewer lid, when all of a sudden, someone grabbed your shoulder. You opened your mouth to scream, but a hand covered your mouth.

"What the shell were you thinking?!" someone hissed, removing his hand and spinning you around to face him.

Oh.

It was Raph.

So, he hadn't left you alone after all.

"What? What do you mean, what was I thinking?" You were thoroughly confused.

"You shouldn't go around asking strangers things!" Raph snapped, opening the sewer lid. He held it up, tapping his foot impatiently, and you realized, with a start, that he was waiting for you to go in first.

You obliged. He came after you and closed the sewer lid, enclosing you two in near-darkness.

"Well, how was I supposed to know where to get pizza from?!" you protested, carrying the pizza. Raph walked next to you, instead of walking ahead like he usually did.

Raph snorted. "Use those eyes of yours! Or are you blind?"

"That could've taken me forever!"

"Well, then, you could've asked one of the others before we left! Heck, you could've asked me while we were up there! You don't—" He paused, realizing you were looking at him strangely. "What?"

"I couldn't have asked you. I didn't see you when I was up there." You paused. "I thought you abandoned me."

"What?! No! Look; I was told to protect you; would I do something like go off and abandon you?"

"I would like to point out," you stated, trying to stay calm. "That I have only known you for less than a day, and I know very little about you. I have no idea what you would or wouldn't do. In fact, you haven't even introduced yourself to me yet."

Raph grunted. "You're sore about that? I'm Raphael. Well, Raph, really."

"I'm F/n."

"Well, F/n, my point is that, you don't go talking to strangers. You have no idea who they are, or what they could do," Raph said.

"I think I'll be fine," you said to Raph, "But thanks for the tip anyway."
