Raph's PoV
"You're applying for a job?"
[F/N] raised her eyebrows at my skeptical tone. "Aren't you the one who wanted me to move out and get a job?"
"Well, I mean, yeah, but - you sure this'll work?" I asked.
"No, not at all," she replied, then walked out of the alley and pushed open the door to the pizza store.
I sighed, then went back to the alley.
"Why is she going into the pizza store?" Mikey asked. Weirdly, he seemed to both love and fear Anthony's Pizza-O-Rama, but, you know, he was Mikey, so the reason for that was probably weird.
"She's applying for a job, taking an interview or something," I grunted, leaning against the wall. "Hopefully, she can move out soon."
"Well, actually, it's not quite that simple," Donnie corrected. "Since she's only a teenager, they'll probably only give her a part-time job, and it would be extremely difficult - actually, nearly impossible - to be able to pay rent with money from only a part-time job, even if-"
"Zip it, Donnie. No one cares," I grumbled, pacing. I've never been the patient type, and for some stupid reason, waiting for [F/N] to come out of the store was making me feel all weird, along with impatient. "Ugh. When's [F/N] gonna come back?" I wanted to get back to the lair soon so I could punch the weird feeling away.
"Raph, are you okay?" Leo asked, raising an eyebrow. (We do have eyebrows, you know. They might not have hair on them, but they're still eyebrows.)
"Of course I'm okay! Why wouldn't I be okay?!" I roared.
Silence.
Alright, so maybe I didn't sound like I was okay.
But I was okay! I swear!
"It's just that you're...moving a lot more than you usually do," Donnie said carefully.
"Yeah, dude, you look like Ice Cream Kitty when no one lets her out of the freezer," Mikey added.
"Mikey, you can't even see Ice Cream Kitty when she's in the freezer; how do you know what she looks like?" Leo protested.
Mikey smiled, trying to look mysterious, probably. "That's what you think," he stage-whispered, then threw a smoke bomb on the ground and disappeared while we coughed.
"Mikey! Stop that!" Leo scolded.
"You're wasting bombs!!" Donnie shouted.
"What the-" [F/N] exclaimed as she entered the alley. "Mikey...what did you do? Is this some...weird...I don't know...purple fart or something?"
The smoke cleared as I started to laugh.
So did Leo and Donnie.
[F/N] looked subtly pleased. Mikey folded his arms and tried to look serious, which was very hard for him to pull off.
"Okay, guys, yeah, it's funny, but we know that's not true, alright?" he asked, but that just made us laugh harder.
"Yes, yes, yes," I gasped between laughs. "That's exactly what happened, [F/N]. Mikey's pizza mint ice cream milkshakes finally caught up with him and made him fart purple. Oh - oh man-"
"Are we gonna go or what?" [F/N] asked, tilting her face downwards as if she was going to look at her nails. I didn't miss the small smile that flickered across her face, though.
"Yeah, let's go," Leo agreed, and we pulled ourselves together and headed back to the sewer.
"So how did it go?" Leo asked.
"Oh, it was alright. I got the job," [F/N] shrugged. "I start tomorrow night."
"Can we get pizza?" Mikey demanded.
"Once in a while, yeah."
Mikey cheered.
"What'd they do for the interview?" Leo questioned, sounding a little wistful. Probably wanted to know what it was like to have a job interview. Dork. Leodorko.
"Just where I live, and if I go to school and stuff," she responded vaguely.
"And what did you tell them?" I broke in.
She slid a glance over at me, annoyed. "I said I lived with a friend, and that I go to cyberschool. I'm not stupid, unlike some of you. Speaking of, do you guys even have school?"
