Alex had no Kara for support and no Maggie for comfort... and right now she needed both.

Alex lay asleep in a chair next to Kara and every sound made her jolt up thinking it was Kara. Hoping she would wake up.

Kara lay lifeless on the medical bed and a blanket laid over her body and suit. The heart was slow, but still beating. Which was the important thing. The only thing that mattered.

Mon-El sat next to Alex, but sat awake. Staring off into space. He was of course hurt by the incident as well, and cursed at himself for not being there.

I should've been there. I should've been there. That thought repeated over and over again in his mind.

Then Alex jolted up from her bed and tears welled up in her eyes. She jumped out of her seat taking deep breaths and ran out of the room.

Her racing echoes of panting circled in the air. Her heart pounded in her ears and a bubble of cold fear builder up in her chest.

"Alex, what is it?" Mon-el asked approaching her.

"It's my fault! I should've never been in there with her! I forgot, and I'm so stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid" Alex scolded herself.

"What? What did you forget?" Mon-el questioned and put his hands on her tense shoulders.

"The kryptonite! It's inside of me, and I was in there! Making her worse!" She cried and stumbled backwards, farther away from Kara.

"Alex, it's okay. This wasn't your fault."

"It is! This is all my fault! If I would've never went to try to save her then this never would've happened!"

"You don't know that." He said softly.

"Actually, I do. She tried to save me! Not anyone else, me! That's what got her here!" Tears flooded down her face.

"If you never came she would be dead." Mom-el said firmly.

She stopped yelling and took a deep breath. "I'm leaving."

She paced toward the doors and disappeared behind them, leaving Mon-el alone. In the silence. Shivering dangerous silence.

Maggie pulled out the radio from her pocket. Cadmus ripped out all of the cords so it wouldn't work.

Detective Sawyer pressed her fingers against the two panels and pried them apart revealing the technology inside. She grabbed a screw and a spring.

Maggie dropped the radio to the ground and fidgeted with the two little gadgets till they were laced together.

"What's that for?" Lena asked peering over the detective's shoulder.

"It's to pick this lock."

She stuck her arm outside of the bars and bent it towards the little key hole. Maggie bit her bottom lip as she stabbed the little device in. She wobbled it back and fourth.

"Are you sure it's going to work?" Lena asked anxiously.

"Yes." She said quickly then suddenly shot her leg up and jammed it onto the bars. The barred door flung open and banged on the wall.

"See?" She asked bluntly and put her hands up.

Lena smiled and rolled her eyes. Maggie took the first step outside of the door.

"All clear." She said quickly and they both made their way to the door to hopefully freedom.

Maggie creaked it open and peeked her head out. The detective suddenly sprung through and Lena could hear some punches and two thumps to the ground.

Maggie snook her head back in and smiled. "Come on!"

Lena pushed the metal door open and stepped over the two unconscious guards that Maggie ambushed.

"Damn." She said under her breath.

Maggie heard her and chuckled to herself. They rushed to a stainless steel door with no guard to protect it.

Lena pushed down the handle and jerked it open. Maggie walked past her and let the warm sun flood onto her skin. Her shoes pressing against the soft gravel.

One, two, no about twenty men armed with guns flooded from both sides of the building. Their clanky boots stomped towards them and Lena backed up towards Maggie.

The men made a half circle with the weapons pointed directly at them. Then walked Lillian Luthor.

"Did you really think that you would get out that easily?"

"Well honestly I was expecting that your dumbass would be to oblivious to even notice us." Maggie spat.

Lillian just snickered. "I was expecting more from you." She said suddenly directing her attention to her daughter.

"I'm a chess prodigy, I'm always ten steps ahead."

A black van abruptly pulled up with the tires grinding against the pebbles as it slammed on its breaks. Alex and many other agents came storming out.

"Checkmate." Lena said smiling and raising one eyebrow.

Lillian retreated in all of the ruckus as gun shots filled the atmosphere. A figure came flying through the air.

It came soaring downwards and its boots connected with the earth. A wave surged the air and the ground quaked. The armed men that surrounded Lena and Maggie went flying gracefully.

Once they fell unconscious Maggie and Alex made eye contact. A smile stretched from one end to the other and Alex's face that was already swollen from tears started to water.

The two set off and came racing across the dirt. Their arms and bodies caught each other and Maggie's head burrowed into her girlfriend's shoulder.

"I thought I was never going to see you
again." Alex breathed into Maggie's beautiful brown hair.

"I could say the same."

Kara still lay asleep on the bed. Sun lamps were switched on, but there was no point. She didn't even have her powers, but there is always hope... I guess.

Her heart pounded once... then twice... then again. But it was slow. Too slow.

Maggie spotted her on the bed and ran from Alex's side and into the medical bay. Alex stood still and wanted so bad to follow. To see her sister, one last time.

She stared down nervously and started to nudge the ground with the tip of her foot.

Mon-el walked up next to her and they both shared that longingly stare at sweet Kara.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly.

"No." Alex admitted and felt her vision blur.

"She's going to be okay."

"That's what everyone says, but it's not true." She said suddenly and walked away the second the words escaped her lips.

Mon-el stood speechless for a couple a seconds and turned to see Alex's figure escape behind a door.

"HELP!" A sudden scream came from the med bay. It was Maggie.

Kara's body shook up and down and her heart beat lay flat. A loud beeping noise echoed.

Then her body fell back down, limp.

But her heart was still flatlining.

She's...

Dead.
