Betrayal, is how Lena would describe it.
But it was worse then just that.
Instead of one knife, there were two. But you can trust that both were equally as painful. Each one would make you let out a scream of agony and fall to your knees once you realized they were there. Once you felt them tear the sensitive flesh.
And how sensetive Lena's flesh was.
After Kara left her office after a long chat Lena couldn't help, but feel the dagger dig through some muscel and scratch a bone, except now she stared Kara right into her eyes as she did it. From the front and through the stomach.
Lena felt heartbroken, but empty.
Luthors don't have friends, no matter how hard they try.
Lena felt like finally someone was friends with a Luthor, that they didn't look at her horrible brother Lex, or hell, even her mother Lillian. But that hope was shattered and now spilling out into the forms of tears as she drunk them back up again in the form of scotch.
Lena even ended up passing out on her own couch as a sober and emotional mess. And the next day when the hangover had finally had worn off and the alcohol was no longer having their affects, still feeling like a greif-stricken trainwreck, Kara stopped by. And this time Lena finally said what has been growing inside her like a wildfire.
"I know that your Supergirl."
Kara paused for a moment soaking in her words and her confusion and shock turned into fake laughter, "Pfff, you think that I'm Supergirl? That's insane."
"Don't lie to me Kara. More then you already have. A couple days ago you fell unconcious and your glasses fell of you face. I saw you and I can't believe I couldn't see it before." Lena said, scary calm.
"Lena, come on. How could I be her?" Kara tried her hardest to cover it up. To convince her that she wasn't her, because she couldn't lose Lena. Or a sense of normalcy.
Lena paused for a second, staring at Kara not breaking the hard cold stare which made Kara shift uncomfortably. "Take off your glasses."
"What? But I'd be basically blind without them." Kara nervously laughed.
"I highly doubt that." Lena said crossing her arms. After a couple seconds of Kara trying to avoid it Lena said, "Take off your glasses or I take it as verification."
Kara swallowed hard and looked down at her feet. She brought up her hand, took off her glasses, then looked back up at Lena ready for whatever heartbreaking lecture that will leave them both traumatized.
"You lied." Lena said and her cold words were like tiny machetes that stabbed hard with each utter.
"Lena, I can explain." Kara said sucking in a deep breath.
"No, I don't need your explaination. I already have it. You standing there, knowing how long you have lied to me, I don't actually need one." Lena said sitting down at her desk that she had spent so much time thinking about this exact situation on.
"It's not like that." Kara said, knowing that this conversation could never, ever end well.
"It's not like that? Then tell me what is it like Kara, or Supergirl. Whatever you like to be called. Tell me what it's like to hold a knife in your best friend's back. Tell me what it's like to keep your species a secret? Is it because I'm a Luthor and your an alien?" Lena felt herself fall deeper and deeper into the pitch black pit that was already so far down.
"No, no! It is not because your a Luthor and that is far from the reason." Kara exclaimed.
"Oh, really? Because that is what it feels like."
Kara hung her head in shame. She didn't want to hurt her best friend that was now already gone. How could she ever make this up to her? How could she even explain her reasons?
"I want you out. And don't come back."
"Can you at least listen to me? Please?"
"Just, leave. Please." Lena said and her voice hung low. With her head turned away from Kara she couldn't see the tear that feel down her cheek leaving a painful trail.
Kara placed her glasses back on her face and disapeared behind the large office doors.
Her footsteps fading away.
Lena fell to her knees and let her arms go limp letting more tears fall.
Two hours into the night Lena sat on the couch drink a shot of scotch. Her eyes were blothcy red and the imprint of the tears felt permenant on her face.
A person walked into her office, hearing the doors open.
"I told you not to come back, Kara." Oh how much Lena would have wished it was Kara.
Lena took a look to her right and jumped up to her feet. A wet rag was shoved over her mouth and Lena dropped the glass making it shatter onto the ground. Lena struggled and tried to breath, but her eyes rolled back into her head and blackness.
Sorry, sorry! Cliffhanger, I know and I will update soon! Oh are you looking for the rocks to throw and pitchforks? Ha! I hid them so suck it! *ducks under table as you throw Netflix and it goes over cliff* NETFLIX!!! NOOOOOOOOO!
