All Out War

Chapter 7

When I awoke the next day, the room was still dark. Daryl tightened his hold on me and began kissing my bare shoulder. I turned over and met his lips.

"It's time," I said when we parted.

He pressed his forehead against mine.

"Yeah. We better get ready," he said.

He kissed my forehead and made his way to the bathroom. I got dressed and pulled up my hair. I made my way downstairs just as everyone else was. Carol had gotten up before any of us had and made breakfast. We all took a bowl of oatmeal and started getting ready. I went to the armory and grabbed a rifle and a handgun. There were others who were loading their weapons. Aaron and Eric among them.

"You guys be careful out there. Daryl and I are heading over to the weapons cache once we've handled the herd," I said.

"This is gonna be a first for me. But I'm gonna give it everything I have," Eric said.

"That's the spirit. I'll see you guys out there, okay," I said patting Eric's shoulder.

I turned and headed toward the door.

"Amelia," Aaron called.

I turned back around and looked at him.

"Be careful. You're like family to me," he said.

"To the both of us," Eric chimed in.

I smiled at the both of them.

"You guys are family too. Watch yourselves," I said.

They both nodded. I went up and gave both of them a hug.

"I'll see you guys later," I said.

I made my way out and slung my rifle over my shoulder while holstering my handgun at the same time. Daryl, Carol, Morgan, Tara and I were set to leave first. Rick and the others were heading to Hilltop after we left. Daryl was tuning up his motorcycle by the house and I made my way to him.

"Everything looking good?" I asked once I reached him.

"Yup. You ready?" he said standing up.

"As ready as I'll ever be," I said.

He reached for my hand.

"You stay close to me. No matter what, you hear?" he said.

"I've got your back. Always," I said.

He lifted my chin and kissed me. We pressed our foreheads together once we parted. The front door opened and Carl made his way to us.

"You guys ready?" he asked.

"Yeah. I'll see you when I get back, okay?" I said.

"Yeah. Pretty sure you'll be back before the day is over with. I still have to say it though, be careful," he said.

He came up and gave me a hug. I held him close.

"Love you, bud," I said.

"Love you too," he said.

Tara, Morgan and Carol made their way out and up to us.

"You two ready?" Tara asked.

"Yeah. You?" Daryl replied.

"Hell yeah," she said.

Rick came to see us off.

"You guys clear on the plan?" he asked.

We all nodded. He came up and gave me hug.

"Be careful. I'll see you later okay," he said after we parted.
