1 year later...

Maggie and I had given birth to our beautiful, healthy babies. Maggie had a boy. Glenn Rhee Jr. was what she named him and that felt right. Two months later, I gave birth to a gorgeous little girl. I remember that wonderful day every time I look at her. Daryl never left my side once, while I was in labor. Emma Beth Dixon. We named her after two very important people in our lives. Emma after my mother, and Beth after my little sister. Daryl liked the idea of having 'Beth' as a middle name. He liked how the two of them sounded together. Maggie cried her eyes out when we told her what we had decided to name our baby. Which of course got me to cry my eyes out with her. But we had finally had our families and we had them together. We'd all visit Glenn a lot more after little Glenn was born. I wished he was here with us. But in a way, he was and always would be. In spirit and in little Glenn. We had rebuilt Alexandria and were living in the houses again. Carol was living at the Kingdom, keeping a close eye on Henry who she never wanted to lose again. She and Ezekiel were seeing where their current relationship was going. I was happy for her. For the both of them. Rosita and Tara were living at the Sanctuary. They were the best of friends and felt it was only right to look after the other. They loved each other like sisters and I was happy that they had each other's back. But in reality, I think they stayed there to make sure Eugene didn't screw up again. He was doing better. Providing bullets for all of us and assuring us that he'd do whatever it was that we wanted him to do. Whatever it took to forgive him for being such a shitty friend. The women from Oceanside had split themselves up among the four communities depending on where they felt their strengths would be most useful. Morgan had kept his word about coming to visit me once Emma was born. He held her with light in his eyes. He never lived in the same place for long. He was always moving. But every few weeks, he'd come back just to assure us that he was doing okay. I was very happy about that. We ended up finding out that Heath was living in the Sanctuary. He was captured by some Saviors when Tara had come across the people at Oceanside. They had tortured him and had caused a lot of damage. The late Dr. Carson had been treating him before he and Gabriel escaped the Sanctuary when Negan was still around. We were all trying to help him get back to his old self again. He had started to regain his memory a few months back which we all took as a huge win. Gabriel was doing much better. The church was back to its former glory and he was preaching the word of God on a daily basis. Dwight never came back. I hoped he'd found his wife and that they were some place together and happy. We all deserved that now more than ever. Aaron and Jesus had become a couple recently. Aaron had told me that the both of them had gone out on a run together one day. He had opened up to Jesus about Eric and that brought them closer. The rest was as they say, history. The both of them were the happiest I've seen them since the war ended. Everyone was getting along and we were growing. It was exactly what our loved ones that had passed wanted for us. It was what Carl had seen in his dreams. This was our after.

"She's getting so big already," Rick said.

"Rick, she's only a few months. Glenn is the one that is growing at an astounding rate," I said.

Rick had Emma in his arms rocking her back and forth.

"Where's Daryl?" he asked.

"He's out getting some supplies from Georgie," I said.

"It was lucky Maggie found them when she did. She, Hilda and Midge turned out to be alright," he said.

"Yeah. I just wish they'd come live here or Hilltop but we can't force them," I said.

"So long as they are safe," he said.

I nodded.

"Daddy! Amelia!" Judith shouted.
