"Hi, Charlie," I said when we got to the grill.

"Long time, no see, Amelia. How have you been?" she asked.

"I know. We've all been busy the last few days. How about yourself?" I replied.

"We're all still here. What can I get you?" she asked.

"What do you have? I heard you all are low on food. I wouldn't want anything you don't have," I said.

"Well, we're actually good on bread and cheese. Grilled cheese okay?" she said.

"With the way you make them, definitely," I said.

"Coming right up," she said.

About ten minutes later, I had scarfed down four of those sandwiches. Daryl only had one.

"Are you sure you're okay with just one?" I asked once we'd finished.

"Yeah. I don't need much. Just as long as you got something and feel full," he said.

"I didn't know how much I needed that until after the first one," I retorted.

"So you're good?" he asked.

I took a sip of water.

"Yeah. Let's get going," I said.

He nodded.

"Amelia, did you eat something?" Carl asked coming over.

"Yup. Just did. How about you?" I said.

"Yeah," he said.

"Your dad come find you?" I asked.

"Yeah. He left about ten minutes ago. Are you guys leaving too?" he said.

"We were just about to but there's some things that we need to take care of first," I said.

"Where are you gonna go?" he asked.

"About two miles out. We won't be far," Daryl said.

"There's nothing that I can say to keep the both of you here, I know that. But just promise you'll look out for one another," he said.

"We've got each other, man. Don't even worry about it," Daryl said.

"So when are you guys coming back?" he asked.

"Well, Maggie said that she left one of their people in a crate for them to find. They're coming. Soon as they do, we'll be back," Daryl said.

Carl nodded. He came up and hugged me.

"See you soon," he said.

"Protect these people. Be safe, bud," I said.

"I will," he said.

We parted and I watched him make his way to the house.

"Let's get ready," Daryl said.

He took my hand and led me to the armory. I grabbed a rifle and loaded it.

"Rick was able to get my bike," Daryl said.

I looked at him surprised.

"How was he able to do that?" I asked.

"Says he rode it over," he replied.

"Shut the hell up. I didn't even know he knew how to use one," I retorted.

"That's what he said. I was already trying to figure out what the hell I was gonna do," he said.

"So we take the bike out. What happens if they come when we're out there?" I asked.
